The game was removed from the store when the Directors cut was added.

what? Why?!

Because for some reason, Eidos want the laggy, stuttery bugfest Director's Cut edition to be the one that everyone in the future remembers from now on :(

Ah, I've been considering upgrading to the Director's Cut since I hear they kind of address the non fun boss fights. I also never picked up the Missing Link DLC. Also, it'd only be like, $2.50 if I was willing to contact support.

Director's Cut is buggy and crap even with some of the upgrades compared to vanilla?

Don't know about buggy, but surely fugly. They made some changes to the lighting and now the colors are colder and more accurate which sounds good in theory yet it somehow makes the game look worse than before. This is the one thing that keeps me from upgrading. I liked the particular gold look which felt like some augmentation secondary effect and made the game more immersive imo.

Ya, I figured the gold look was all part of the "artistic direction" which in context never actually bothered me. But colder and more "real" really just makes me think that they greyed everything out since the gold lighting was the only thing keeping the the enviroments from being bland in the first place. Seriously, bland is actually much more realistic, dark is much more moody for a cyber punk style story, so I can understand the theory behind the changes. Gold is excellent though, and perhaps I won't upgrade now, since I'd rather have the story appropriate gold (even if it isn't realistic) than some bland city scape that I have to trudge through.

I guess this question is sort of relevant to this thread, but with the original game taken down from the store does that mean you'd have to upgrade to collect the trading cards for the game?
