Best lethal weapon in the game?
What's the best weapon to use if you're playing carnage mode? Kill every enemy on sight.
I played like this once before, and I used the 10mm pistol. It was a mix of stealth and combat. But I want full combat now, after just finishing a second 100% stealthy playthrough.

I like the standard combat rifle, but the game gave me the sniper rifle in the beginning as part of the pre order bonus package and I really like it.

The sniper rifle sucks. Once you have upgraded your 10mm pistol with armour piercing/silencer/laser upgrades it will kill most enemies with a single headshot whereas the sniper rifle won't (at least not on the hardest difficulty), plus the sniper rifle requires praxis points to stop the scope wandering with an augmentation upgrade.

The game isn't really a head to head combat shooter anyway but if you must then I'd say stick to silenced weapons as shotguns and grenades bring enemies running (then again if you are hiding in an airvent that's just what you want).

Also try the revolver with the exploding bullets upgrade, it's pretty effective.

Good ol' upgraded pistol IMO, with maybe shotgun for CC (maybe). Problem with all the fully auto weapons is that even when upgraded they take more bullets/longer TTK than the fully upgraded pistol. They're there to tempt the Rambo-inclined players, but in practice they're mostly sloppy, ineffeciant, inventory hogs. Their only real niche is for players who lack aiming skill and thus need to bullet spam.

This is especially apparent on hard difficulty, as there most enemies will kill you in just 2-4 hits. Any situation where you'd actually need full auto will kill you right off regardless.

And, I'll second that the sniper rifle is completely useless. Sell it when you find it, and never look back.

The Pistol, Silenced, armor penetrating, huge clip, accurate, plentiful ammo and very easy to obtain headshots from cover.

The Revolver with explosive rounds is pretty neat, but loud and a small clip with rare ammo.

The Shotgun is slow to reload, large, semi rare ammo and ineffective at range.

The Machine Pistol is bad.

The Combat Rifle is weak, innaccurate and requires specific perks to use effectively, though the shooting around corners is neat.

The Sniper Rifle is pretty useless.. really.

The Rocket Launcher is huge, has very rare ammo and is very slow to reload. But hits very hard.

The Heavy Rifle is like a full auto large clip shotgun. and is aweful from cover.

The Lazer is neat, shoots through walls and has a huge clip size, rare ammo and is only obtained late in the game.

The plasma rifle is a damage upgrade on the gas powered rifle. minus the shooting around cover. Found late in the game.

Hah. I was hoping a bit for something other than the pistol. The only weapon I used in my first playthrough was the pistol, fully upgraded. It had awesome unholster and reload animation, ammo was plentiful, and, indeed, it killed almost everyone with a single headshot. But I wanted more variety this time around. Wanted to see what a fully upgraded combat rifle or something else would look like. I suppose I could play a full combat playthrough with a pistol though, since the last time I used it as my main weapon, it was mostly a stealthy playthrough.

I was very happy with the shotgun, when using doubleshot ability, it works fine with nearly every enemy.

Pistol as others are saying is an awesome weapon once it is pimped out. The only thing you have to keep in mind. Is as you progress through the ammo for the pistol will become more and more limmited.

So as you progress and you find better weapons. You will have to find a repacement. For example the last part of the game you will find it is almost impossible to get ammo for it.

My weapon of choice is the combat rifle. And to be honest, I never really use anything more powerful than the combat rifle. Fully upgarded it's silenced and has the tracking bullets so makes short work of most situations.
