Differences

Is Half-Life: Source the same as Half-Life but with better graphics? The plot is the same, yeah? Because I don't know I should play H-L of H-L:S ;p I don't want to miss anything.

Yeah its the same thing, with some different looking water and lighting. Also look for the hd texture mod for hl source, it'll make the game look a little better.

Personally I prefer Source.
The Engine is really fantastic.. so why not?

Same content and slightly better graphics.

Check out Half Life Dreamcast. Its a free mod if you own the non source version and it has the best graphics.

Better water and lighting, as well as the ability to start at any chapter you wish rather than having to load old saves of the chapters. It does have some more bugs and is noticably bigger in terms of bytes than HL. But yeah it's the same game.

I'll list a few Pros and Cons of each.

HALF LIFE (original version)
+ more "authentic"
+many mods are available
+autosaves at loading screens
- technical issues from it being an old game

Half-Life: Source
+ minor Improvements made to the physics, lighting and water effects
+ runs better on modern computers
+ you can begin a new game from any chapter
- autosave feature was removed
- no mods

If you can only get one then I recommend the original due to it's mods, however if you have both and are trying to decide which one to play, then I recommend Source.

You know what I did with both my HL and HLS? I kept HL as it is whilst I pumped HLS with an excellent steroid called 'Half-Life Source Ultimate Edition' while I wait for Black Mesa.

As some others have said, you can wait for Black Mesa to come out to experience Half-Life for the first time (We've been saying that since 2009! But I heard the developers actually have a release date for somewhere this september now.)

Yeah, that's maybe the only thing I don't like so much about Half-Life Source. Why did they remove that? ??? I'd sure like for them to put that back in there!

I'm a bit "spoiled", used to the auto-save being there. So sometimes I'd play for like hours and make so much progress through it toward the end, and then somewhere bite the dust, and then, like a game of Aggravation (which is an entirely other game and not even supposed to be like that!), get sent like right back to Start, right back to where I'd started playing from like maybe nine hours before, or whatever ungodly amount of time! >:(

So when you play that, for God's sake, REMEMBER to SAVE YOUR GAME! :O hehehehe

Jeez, they really, really, really need to put that back in there! I mean would it be so hard to do? ???
