game crashes on the start screen (mac)
just bought the game and it crashes on the start screen
i receive one gamemaker crash notification saing something about a high score file not reading
any fix ???

bump i realy want to play please help devs,,,, to be more clear ,,, the game starts normal an them on the press start to play if i press any key i receive a gamemaker crash number 1,,,, something about a score file that cant be read or found

You either get this error because of some "security measure" MacOS inflicts on all developers who aren't paying them an annual fee, or because of a permission error somewhere. The game is being denied permission to save a data file.
Here is one thing you could try doing if this is scenario #1:
you could try going to your Settings>Security&Privacy, and allowing to run programs downloaded from anywhere. Then running the game and seeing if that helped. If it did - you can now go back and switch the setting back to whatever it was (it will remember to run my game next time).
In case it's scenario #2:
Go to your Applications>Utilities>Disk Utilities. Select the partition on which Ultionus is installed. Select "Verify Permissions". Once the program finishes logging the permission errors, click Repair Permissions and wait for the program to finish. Hopefully this should enable the game to run properly.

i repaired all the permissions and allow to run programs downloaded from anywhere and the problem continues... i receive the folowing message error 1 file now opened for writing gml_script_higscore_save ... thanks for answer my call e means a lot to get a dev post looking foward for more info if you find any :D

i realy think that this file is missing ,,, because i opened the package of the app and remove one random save file i found there and got the same type of error insta wen i oppened the game,,, before the press start to play wen the error usualy hapens.... then i put the file back and the insta error stoped to happen and the normal error came back

What version of OS X are you on? Mine isn't updated to the latest... so I don't know if maybe Apple decided to make life more difficult for me now.
So far yours is the only report of the game doing this on a mac - so the issue is not widespread. Perhaps there was some error when Steam downloaded it? What happens if you go to Steam, Library, Ultionus, Properties Local Files - Delete Local Files, then try to re-download the game?

already re download it,,,, and run on the 2 other beta options to,,,,no chance in the problem... my version is osx mavericks 10.9.2

Okay - try this:
On the "Press Fire" screen press this series of cursor buttons:
Up, Right, Down, Up, Left, Left
This should enable the dev mode - you get "DevMode" and version number at the top of the screen.
Then press this:
Down,Up,Down,Left,Up,Down,Up,Down,Down,Down,Left,Right,Right.
This will attempt to completely delete all game save data, and create a brand new save file.

These codes **don't** need to be entered fast.

well the error continues , but u must be the coolest and more patient dev i ever seen , you even have a "konami" code kind of stuff to try to help me lol, im realy trying things on my side here, like i downloaded the game from various stesm servers around the world (dc , ny , brasil, etc) ,no results, realy not in a hurry and u are so present that i bet this will end well in some patch or whatever ty again

I'm getting this too. OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 (14D136). I tried repairing permissions, doing the dev code, verifying integrity of game cache, and even manually browsing to the save file folder and setting RW permissions to everyone for both hiscore.dat and the save folder. Nothing has worked. :meatytears:

I am SO sorry guys. I am currently in process of porting the game up to the new version of GMS, which might *HOPEFULLY* fix this issue.
