There's a demo in the game's website.

This game is totally worth it, the guns are fun to use, they sound awesome and the shield is a really cool addition, which can save your ♥♥♥. It has a higher difficulty level than most sidescrollers, but I like a challenge.

Depends on what you are looking for in a game.

If you are into "perfecting" games, this is one to get. There is pretty much a "maximum score" that can be achieved per difficulty and longtime motivation is coming from you trying again and again to not only complete the game on a single credit but also without getting hit and thus obtaining maximum points. Until you know each level / boss perfectly well you will probably spend a lot of hours on this.

If you just want to finish stuff and be done with it, this can be completed in about an hour. Higher difficulties do unlock and mix up things a bit, but it's all rather samey.

It's neither as fast or responsive as Contra or Metal Slug, which makes it interesting/different - enjoying mecha anime (particularly VOTOMS) helps in getting a bit more fun out of this.

I don't regret buying it at all, but I am not motivated enough to go for the scoreattack (which is actually quite challenging, cause you need to be fast, grab everything and don't get hit - like ever) - that is not exactly my cup of tea.

The game is pretty good so far. I'm enjoying it. The "you can only be pressing on button at a time" thing is certainly very retro and takes some getting used to and definitely adds to the challenge. The Linux version works perfectly, too.

If they add a level editor and or workshop I'd seriously consider it..

It's definitely great, get it. Very fun mechanics for any fan of arcade 2D shooting games or mecha.

Looks like an old Sega Genesis game called Target Earth. I loved that game.

Target Earth was actually the first in the series of games (Assault Suits) that Gigantic Army was based on.

I feel like it plays closest to Target Earth/Leynos myself except with the addition of some of Cybernator/Valken's enhancements like the dashing.

Mainly it's the endless waves of enemies that does it. You've got to keep moving forward.
