Most often times it the resolution set to something odd in the config files.

While developers scramble to repair you can try entering -windowed in Steam's Launch Properties for the game (accessed through Properties by right clicking the game's name in your library).

Also look for the Distrib folder in Steam\Steamapps\Common\*Game name* and run those installers manually.

Setting compatiblity (for all users) to Admin helps (this hasn't been a problem for awhile now though).

Also check the games folder in Common to see if there are two seperate executables - one for 32 bit Windows and the other for 64 bit. Then run the appropriate executable - The shortcut might've chose the wrong one.

Try running the game from Steam client instead of shortcut to see if maybe there is another option available.

Did you deleted all game content and redownloaded from Steam just in case? (Sometimes, this solves my crashing issues in some games since Steam has been a bit dodgy with the download speeds recently and it cuts a lot.)

More details would certainly help to try to see what's causing it as on PC the amount of different configuration is basically endless: are you running on a laptop or a desktop computer? Are you using the Windows version or the Linux port? Which version of Windows are you using? 7, 8, 8.1? Could it be missing DirectX information? If so, try installing Microsoft redistributable:

Full system specs could also help determine the problem. (CPU, RAM, video card -check your videocard drivers if you have an Nvidia card!)

Just in case, did you try running it in a windowed screen? (Sometimes, some games have problems with full screen mode in certain monitors.) You can stretch and adjust the size of the window to fit your screen.

I tried this and stretch the screen to the best possible position, but the bottom of the game is still missing. When you drag the window to the top of the screen, it drops a few pixels?

Just bought this, same issue. Will not launch. Even went into game directory and manually setup DirectX and vcredist. Very unhappy right now.

Apologies for the delay getting back on this. Getting back on track, what version of Windows are you running the game under? If it's (the not officially supported) Win8, have you tried running the game in Win7 compatibility mode?

Tried running it under Windows 8.1, but it doesn't work, not even with 7 or vista compatibility mode.

Just tried playing this - does not launch. Have tried everything in the previous posts and nothing works. Simply crashes to desktop. Running Windows 8.1 64-bit, AMD 7970 on latest 14.9 drivers.

I own over 500 games on Steam and have never run into anything like this. This is unacceptable for a developer to not address the issue with any kind of patch or workaround at least. Obviously from this thread, the procrastinating has been going on for months now. I can't help but feel that this is a money grab. I don't care how inexpensive this game is...its the principle of the matter.

Fix the game, please. I was looking forward to playing this. I'd hate to report this to Steam prior to the Winter sale in less than a couple of months.

No developer support in over a month...truly pathetic. Steam sale's around the corner. Guess its time for me to spread awareness so that others don't make my mistake and have an unplayable, unsupported game in their library.

Once again, apologies for the sparse communication - there wasn't a response to my last post for a month and this thread ended up getting bumped down.

We try our best to resolve bugs, but unfortunately, for pretty much any given game, there will be some instances where the game is just not compatible with a particular environment, even if it works on 99%+ of the others.

If we can't get a game to work and another PC is not available to use, then refunding is the pretty much the only option that's left, so you went the right route.

The game does not launch for me as well. Launching in steam it says unknown error. Launching manually, I get a message saying it's not compatible with my version of windows, which is windows 7 64 bit, which the min requirements said this game runs on. Compatability mode/troubleshooting didn't work (never does). Help me out devs, I really want to play this game!
