Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum

Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum

Camera?
Alright so I just started playing this game again and I have to ask why is the camera so bad? It was fine in NWN1 is there a mod to fix it? Not to mention the terrible combat animations and sounds.

Not exactly sure how that would help the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera and combat animations.
I switch between exploration and first person view. The exploration view is the same as NWN1. I will use the 1st person in dungeons sometimes, but have added a camera mod to increase the height of the camera so its not blocked by your character.

You should also visit nexusmods before starting your game and adding some cool mods
http://www.nexusmods.com/neverwinter2/?

As well, enjoy the community content; its what makes the game fun! Make sure to add the client extension mod (!)

and definately try Baldur's Gate Reloaded (or other great modules/campaigns)

*warning: approximately 3Gb of free and wonderful content.

If you are looking for regular MP then add your name to my thread, or try the persistent worlds, which should come up after you installed the client extension.

Have fun !

Thank you I also prefer exploration but it seems so much more jerky than it did in NWN 1 could just be me looking through rose colored glasses NWN1 was my first rpg.

Actually I tried to play this game after the whole weekend playing NWN1 and what I can say about NWN2 camera is that it sucks.
I came here looking for some mod indication that transforms NWN2 camera into a NWN1 camera but, no luck, I think.

Have you made any successful tweak?
Currently this game is unplayable as it is.
The camera is FUBAR for some reason. Does this describe your problem?

It looks like the character is stuttering when they move, but when standing still the camera works just fine.

If so, then this fixed the problem for me: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=nwn2other.Detail&id=231

Read in the description for the latest download, or you can clicke here: http://www.nynaeve.net/Skywing/nwn2/cliext/ClientExtension_Latest.zip

Unzip the NWN2 Client Extension in the main folder for NWN2 (where NWN2.exe is located) and run NWLauncher.exe.

Hope this fix works for you. NWN2 is a really great game, even though there are some definite issues with bad models, textures and some notable bugs.

-edit- To get the NWLauncher to run when you click to play through Steam, do the following:

Go to your NWN2 install folder.
Rename "nwn2.exe" to "nwn2.exe.bak"
Install the NWN2 Client Extension in the NWN2 install folder.
Make a copy of "NWLauncher.exe" and rename it to "nwn2.exe"

When Steam launches NWN2, it does so by using "nwn2.exe" If you change NWLauncher.exe to nwn2.exe, then Steam will launch NWN2 using the newly renamed EXE. Steam will not automatically update and overwrite this file. However, if you verify the cache, it will likely overwrite the newly renamed nwn2.exe with the old one.

I have tried this on my installation of NWN2 Platinum and works perfectly. Not only is the camera stutter gone, but I can launch the game directly from Steam.

-2nd edit-

After reading around some more, it seems like this is a bug relating to the CPU's timsestamp timer rounding out. Basically, if your computer has been running for a long time, it will cause syncing issues. You can either restart your computer or use NWLauncher to fix it. (I recommend using the NWLauncher)

It seems that newer CPUs will run into this issue more often and the camera will, once again, fall out of sync at a faster rate with newer CPUs, although I cannot confirm this. To see more about this issues, please read this thread on the BioWare forums from the Neverwinter Client Extension's author: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/158065-good-fps-animation-stuttering-an-issue-i-have-tried-relentlessly-to-fix/

In Storms of Zethir, I had problems where the tavern, Leira's Trick, would have massive amounts of stuttering. Setting the newly renamed nwn2.exe (NWLauncher) and all of the other related EXEs (such as nwn2main.exe) to Run As Administrator seems to have fixed the problem. Also, using WASD will sometimes cause the game to freak out.

The Rubber-banding issue is something internal within the engine and, AFAIK, cannot be fixed. Basically, it's an issue with the way the engine updates object locations and sometimes it bugs out, causing you to rubber-band. This is most common with spellcasters, and it seems to be an issue with animation-timing and player-location updating conflicting, where animations take priority of object location, so the game will rubber-band you back to where it last recorded you as being rather than updating the engine to your new location.
