Will they ever add multiplayer?
I know way back they were saying "you can find people but its very unlikely" but we all know how that went. The game looks fun but I really want to play with friends.

It would destroy the game for me unless there's an 'opt out' option.

Even if they could the chances of running into someone would be slim. This has random start planets unlike Elite Dangerous. Plus No Man's Sky has Multiple Galaxies.

I hope so. I don't expect multiplayer in a short time as it takes time for the 15 people team work on such huge project and requires a lot of server testing. MMO would be cool but I'd also take co-op to play with friends. Honestly I think the game still needs to bring up more content updates first to make the game more interesting and closer to what they've promised, then work on adding multiplayer.

My first week playing I found a system discovered a year ago by another player. I was on the map and hit 'scan for discoveries' then I selected the closest and it was in jump range.

Maybe they could add multiplayer as a different mode. Like creative.

If multiplayer was introduced into this game, all the trolls and griefers who have been plaguing the forums would be in there like a shot.

It would be like someone had thrown a wasp's nest into your bedroom.

The game would die. Very quickly.
