We want to hear from the Influent community. What kind of location and updates would you like to see for Influent?

are there planned Updates for the "Game" (not Language Packs)
Hello guys,
i checked some reviews of the game and it looks pretty interesting, but it seems, the "world" is limited to a small appartement.
For me, it will be interested to walk through a garden, and an office building too (for example).
Are there plans to expand the "World" with another destinations?

Are there also plans to expand the game to learn for example the grammar of a language?

Nevertheless, i have planned to buy that language software.

best regards
Mafloni

I too would be interested in more locations. I love the interface, and wouldn't hesitate to buy more locations, ether through DLC, or "Influent 2" etc.

I would also gladly pay for more areas. I'd like to walk through town, learn words like "post office," "movie theater," etc.

I second this, getting some more areas with more words for other topics than stuff you can find in an appartment would be great

I would gladly pay for more locations. Like a restaurant, a park, or a theater? These would all be really cool idea's I think.

I agree, it's unfortunate the focus is just on adding new languages (AKA making money), instead of expanding the existing languages. Meanwhile the current vocabulary you can learn is pretty limited.

This is all great feed back everyone, thank you! I will make sure this gets some attention.
I just made a topic for more suggestions, combined the original for ease of use.

I would love to see new locations as well. I think foreign language textbooks would be a good place to look. Many are divided into sections such as food (maybe he works at a kitchen or visits a grocery store), buildings (a walk down the street perhaps), and professions (this one might be a little harder to work in organically, but maybe you could have him go to a job fair or something). Overall I really like the game and would love new locations, even if they're paid DLC. Grammar lessons would also be a huge plus and could be implemented by way of a conversation tree with an NPC. I think it would also be interesting to have an optional radio that plays some sort of talk show in your target language. This would (I assume) be cheap and easy to implement while allowing players to relax and explore the environment while hearing native speakers talk, thus adding grammar and conversational language to the mix.

Combined with new locations, perhaps directions? If you had a street you could leave your apartment (maybe check a map), and decide "turn right, then second shop on the left"? Another quick revision task could be to have a list of words in the foreign and native languages, and you could draw lines between them, having your results marked when you've matched them all. This could work for when there's multiple words for the same thing

Expanding on my previous post, perhaps more instruction following-style learning? You could have say a recipie book with simple recipies. You then have to follow the instructions. For example for a cake it could list flour, eggs, etc, as ingredients, which you have to identify and collect together. You then have to follow the instructions to place the dry ingredients in the bowl (click and drag), then use the whisk to mix them, etc. Set timer on oven, could have the number for temperature/duration in words (i.e. twenty minutes) to help practice numbers.

Maybe a shopping mall as a location. That would be good.

Would buy location DLC for sure.
Office, school, street, forest, party, zoo, Afghanistan. You name it and I'd buy it!

Lots of great suggestions everyone, thank you.
I wanted to include a few ideas from our social media community and myself.
  • Online Multiplayer, social virtual world.
  • Voice feed back mini game, player must use microphone to test proper pronunciation.
  • Workshop integration (Talked with development team about this, as of right now we are not looking into Steam workshop. Influent was not designed to be used with workshop, the work load to integrate the system would be a large work load, more than our team can handle at this time.)
  • New locations, such as nightclubs, stores, country of origin.
  • Location is representative of the culture you are learning. Japanese house, looks Japanese with dynamic objects.
