Do robot makers ever stop making robots?

In Descent 1, they'll make 3 rounds of robots. In Descent 2, I believe they can make more (possibly never shutting off) on the highest difficulty levels.

I seemed to have figured it out, when triggered they will make a set number of robots and then stop until triggered again. I'm assuming by 3 rounds you mean they can be triggered a maximum number of 3 times before they can no longer be triggered.

yes. 3 sets of 5-6 robots each.

From memory: Trainee is 3 robots per activation. Somewhere along the way it bumps up to 4 and then 5 by Insane - but I believe Ace was 5 as well. Insane also has the extra tweak that you can infinitely activate robot makers, not just three times.

In all cases, co-op sometimes breaks this - it may only activate once, regardless of the difficulty setting. That's probably a netplay bug though.

In Descent 1 I think it's only 3 rounds of bots for every difficulty. I know that they actually can be worn out on insane at least.
In Descent 2 you have 3 rounds on Trainee and Rookie, 4 on Hotshot, 5 on Ace and on Insane it never runs out. It's an endless sea of robots!

I was wondering that myself. Playing recently, one of the early missions has about 3 spawners surrounding the yellow and red door. I... So many of the buggers kept coming, I just couldn't even hide around the corner. I eventually had to 'sprint' past them. 3 times.

Having said that, who enjoys flying this game upside down? ^^

How do you determine which way is right side up and which is upside down?

Generally by which way you start the levels. But then, if you rotated 180 to play upside down on your first playthrough... There really isn't a discernable difference.

Man I love this game so much...

Lighting also, iirc it's more or less consistent in the orientation of the light.
