Your idea isn't bad, but i think parts of it were "magic", given the poem on the wall above the chest changed and the clock stopped yet stuff was going on outside. So I think in all cases, there has to be some weird magic stuff.
Although, thinking abt it, the corpse had no head of hair. So it could be him, finding out stuff, and the couple of openings of things don't make sense. The people outside would make more sense then, and if the frying pan had hit, that could be the last he remembered.
BTW ... you'r post is kind of a spoiler. could fix title.
yeah i wanted to know what people thought. i can't decide if it was actually his body, or maybe like you said they hid someone else's dead body in the dresser.
I'm pretty sure that that's his body in the dresser, pretty much all clues lead to it: the purgatory thought when you check the bible, him in the picture on the table ...
P.S. If you look down when you are close to the stove, you can see a blood stain on the rug.
yeah i'm definitely seeing it all connect now. all though i missed the part about the cast iron "not" missing him haha. i really didn't expect that little twist though, with him being the dead one. too bad this sad couple couldn't have split ways before the relationship turned murderous.
Try playing it, it's not really hard to finish the game, and there is a lot of work that went into it. A lot of good voice acting and the story is decent too.
