Own CD version

I bought the CD version a while back and is there a way to use the game in Steam instead of the actual CD.

click add game at the botton left and click add a non steam product

It'll still require the CD unless they own a digital version of the game. Sure the Steam Overlay will work with it, but the game will still require the CD if it's the CD version. I have the CD version and it works with Steam in terms of the overlay and 'Non-Steam Game', just not without the CD. I would love to get a digital version though.
