Game won't launch, infinite loop

The window with "Preparing to launch Roller coaster tycoon 3 platinum" just loops infinitely. I can't start the game, yet it was working a few months ago when I last played it. What do I do :c

This is what i would do in order:

1. Make sure my video drivers are up to date.


2: find my other OPTIONS file located and delete it and re-start the game. The file is located here : C:\Main\AppData(this folder is hidden)\Roaming\Atari\RCT3\ "OPTIONS "

3. Find my 2nd options file and delete it located here: C\program files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Gold\ " options"


4. Try running Steam Beta. Click Start-Steam-Settings and on the first page/tab select Beta Participation and click change......i think it requires a reboot

Do you have a AMD ATI RADEON chipset? if you do this game has many issues with this type of video card/intergrated chipset. You may want to search these threads here for a possible solution. Combine this video chipset with a laptop and this game may not run at all if you are running a resolution larger than say : 1024 x 768 32 bit colors.

No, my specs are as follows :

CPU : i5 3570k @ 3.4 ghz
GPU : GTX 770
8 GB of RAM

Using Windows 7 ultimate.

I will however try to launch in different resolutions and see if that helps.

Edit : downloaded a new options.txt and set the resolution to 800 x 600, still doesn't launch.

I think the problem is probably with steam and not the game itself :/

i run Windows 7 64 bit home premium, Athlon 6000+ dual core 3.06 Ghz, 4gb mushkin memory,Nvidia gtx 650 1gb card and the game runs fine for me.

i run 1280 x 1024 res. No triple buffering or antiliasing and no Vsync either.

Thank you to Nerp for letting me know.

It occurs when you have the game installed on a seperate hard drive. You need to have the game installed on your native hard drive. Move it to C:/ and it should work.

it didn't work for me :( still wont launch.
