It would be an amazing game with a few shortcomings... if it weren't supposed to be the successor to flash Motherload.
- Played like Motherload. (Check it out. It still is an amazing game.)
- Brilliant artstyle. The game looks beautifu in almost every way possible.
- Local only coop. I get it. But wouldn't it make multiplayer so much more viable if it wasn't local?
- Pacing. The original Motherload played like this game on Hardcore. However, the added mechanics took away the fun on Hardcore and the pacing on Softcore just doesn't feel fun. The catch 22 is: There is no intensity in Softcore, but the intensity in Hardcore comes with the absence of sense of progression.
Maybe I expected too much. Maybe I still see Motherload with tinted glass. Playing the gold version of flash Motherload (which you get from this purchase) does feel nostalgic, but also tired.
Get this if you miss Motherload. Don't get it if you aren't prepared for disappointment. /endrant
