If Spiky ever does make a sequel I'm sure it would have better widescreen support (but I'll let him speak to that!) They're definitely the standard now.
Future *new* games we work on are likely to be widescreen or variable aspect ratio - probably variable, since there's no single standard aspect ratio that covers all widescreen modes and, while I'm fine with letterbox/pillarbox, I hate stretched/squashed video.
The next game we're working on (Black Closet) is widescreen and will probably wind up with the same general sort of variable aspect ratio support we have in Magical Diary.
After that, the next one (working title: Spaaaace) is currently 800x600 fixed-resolution, actually, though I'm aware that I'll need to use a much lower resolution if I want it to work on a lot of recent hardware. :)
(Trolling aside, it'll be resizable - that bit's just not in yet.)
