This game is an Early Access title, and - as such - has a few issues which some people run into. This post is to give quick fix advice to those having trouble:Q. I found a bug! What should I do?
A. We have a very dedicated test team who are combing the game for issues on a daily basis, so most issues in the game we already know about. Keep an eye on it, though, and if it doesn't go away after an update or two, let us know and we'll add it to the to-do list if it's not already on there!Q. The game won't work for me at all!
A. This is very rare, but please don't panic! We're a very friendly bunch and will do everything we can to help you get it sorted out!Q. I've tried setting up a forum account but haven't gotten my confirmation email!
A. Shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your username and we'll get it approved manually for you. Our servers have been hit pretty hard since the launch!Q. I'm running Windows 8 and the game won't run!
A. Go into your game files and delete the files named "wininet.dll" and "urlmon.dll". This should fix the problem :)Q. When I run the game, the graphics are all pixellated!
A. In the configuration screen in the game's launcher, try increasing your detail level.Q. I get strange graphical glitches across my screen, or the graphics won't display at all!
A. The game's video setting system is still a bit of a work in progress, and the game's settings will need to be tailored to your individual system - but you only have to do it once. Go into the configuration screen in the game's launcher and play with some of the settings. The most common culprits for causing problems are shadows, post processing and bloom. Finding the right combination for you should make the game run just fine.
We actually have made up a video configuration guide, which you can access here
.Q. I don't have a powerful enough computer to run the game at a reasonable framerate!
A. No problemo. On the main menu, look in the top-left corner. You'll see a checkbox where you can run the game in a special low detail mode. It's not the prettiest thing on the planet, but it cuts out all of the graphical fanciness and runs the game vanilla. The performance increase is huge!Q. I can't claim locations or use Dimension Stones... It says I can't connect to the server?
A. Check to make sure you don't have a local firewall blocking either the Launcher EXE or the game EXE (which is called MSoA.EXE)Q. I tried registering on the forum and my confirmation email didn't come through!
A. Send an email to email@example.com saying what happened and mention the username you asked for. We'll get you sorted out ASAP!Q. My saved game won't load since the new update went out!
A. Unfortunately, with some updates, saved games become incompatible. We try to avoid this happening as often as humanly possible, but sometimes it just can't be avoided. If that is going to be the case we will ALWAYS put out an announcement beforehand to let you know in advance. However, know that we actively work to minimize this happening, as we know what your characters mean to you.Q. I get a lot of crashes with the error message "Could not load image" or "Could not load object"... What's wrong?
A. It could be one of two things. Firstly, you could be using outdated video card drivers. Secondly, you could be overloading your system memory. Malevolence contains an infinite world, which is a bit of a memory hog to handle sometimes, so Malevolence doesn't always run well alongside other memory-hungry programs. If you're going to play Malevolence, you may want that to be the only thing that's running for best performance. Alternatively, running the game in Low Detail mode frees up a LOT of memory and really minimizes this problem.
