PC Demo
If you have read this and this, then you know that we've been battling trolls who have made it their goal to disrupt the forums, post malicious and false reviews of the game here, on Metacritic[www.metacritic.com], other un-moderated Steam forums etc.

To that end, even though I initially found it unnecessary since the mobile versions were intended to serve as a demo given that missions 1-3 (out of 16) in the campaign were free, I have decided to release a PC demo for the game.

The demo, like the mobile version, will have missions 1-3 free and that should give anyone who thinks that a mobile version demo would not suffice for a PC, a chance to make their own judgment and help us counter these malicious and false reviews being put up by a select few and their mob in order to get back at us for banning, thus preventing them from disrupting our forums.

It will be out next week when it comes out of testing.

  • If you like the demo, buy the game. Then write an honest review of the game for us in the game's store page and on the Metacritic page. Then spread the word.

Though the game has already made back every penny that I invested in it - and then some - your efforts will empower me to consider further expanding the game either by way of DLC (missions, skirmish maps, items, weapons etc) as I explained here[explained here].

Even a full blown sequel is possible. Given that the custom engine is already in place and we have all our Unity3D ducks in a row, such a sequel will take less than the year it took to develop this game.

  • If you don't like the demo, then you won't like the game. And that's OK too. So please move along instead of starting a rage-fest here in this forum. That never ends well and everyone loses (you get banned, we get to field the resulting crap)

That is all.

Im happy you are making a demo. Im intrested in the game, but hesitant in spending the money, this will help the decision considerably.
Good Luck!

Am looking forward to the demo, as someone who is somewhat limited on the devices they use for gaming. Thanks!

Just a quick word to let you all know that the demo is going into testing this Tue/Wed and should be out by the end of the week. Hopefully this will give those of you sitting on the fence, a chance to try the game and decide for yourself if you like it or not.

Also, note that the 25% off on Steam and elsewhere, ends tomorrow. But we are considering extending it another week in order to give those of you waiting for a demo before making a decision, to try it out and still be able to get in on the discount.

As mentioned in this other thread, I am also going to start coming up with some ideas for expanding the game via free and paid DLC (those are quicker than doing a sequel) as well as a sequel (yes - given the sales of the game thus far, a sequel is happening).

The PC demo is completed and goes into final testing today. I expect that it will be released by the end of the week.

The PC demo is now complete and has been uploaded to our servers for download by the sites that want to host it. I will start posting links once they start going up.

Thanks for uploading the demo. Just a few thoughts on my first play of the game and some suggestions to make it more fun to play. When I select a guy to move where I click, I have to select this guy again if I want him to move to another position because the MOVE icon disappears. Either this is a glitch or what I don;t know. But its annoying. Also to see the stats of one of your men, you have to click on the characters profile- then click on him in the game to see STATS. This stat option SHOULD always be there when you click on the character either ingame or his profile image to the right. It just seems a little bit of unnessary extra clicking in this game.

There also should be a pause key to press so you can assess a situation and give orders while paused. It does pause when you click on a target or ground to give an order, but inbetween that the action continues and often too fast. I know its suppose to be a real-time game but the Ai is too dumb, and die too quickly. If this is suppose to be limited to make the game harder well make this for medium or hard difficulty. I like to be able to pause the action like you could in XCOM: Enemy unknown.

Be able to give two waypoint orders to a character, and then control which direction they will face when arriving at the final waypoint. This way you can get a man to always cover the other direction.

Middle mouse button (held) and pan camera around as an alternative to Q & E would be nice too.

There probably is hot-keys to swap weapons that I don't lmow about but that would be nice too or if a bad guy is within melee range the character attacking him will automatically switch to a sword or blade if he has one.

Why can't I pick up enemy weapons? I can understand you want the player to unlock new weapns. But it would be nice to be able to pickup a shotgun for an example.

Selecting two units with point pointer/click and drag selection area over them, would be handy to have two units respond to single orders. This would be handy if two went one way and the other two the opposite direction. This way you can get two units to target the same enemy at point and concentrate fire. This just saves time.

I cannot comment on other gameplay aspects as i have only played the first two missions in the demo. The game feels like it needs more polishing with some of the areas i have outlined here which I don't think would be hard to implement.

Hi and thanks for checking out the demo.

Due to the game's design, we can't change how the current pause system works. Also, the game is an RTS, while XCOM is turn-based.

Because you can select a character by either clicking on their portrait or pressing 1-4, there is no way to change that mechanic to display stats on-the-fly. So when you select any character, you then have a series of actions that you can perform.

The cover system has an automatic direction facing mechanic. So as long as they go to cover behind the cover marker, they will face the opposite direction.

You can pan the camera using the RMB. Press, hold and move your mouse L/R

We don't have any hot keys to swap weapons. It is something that I have been thinking about and will see if it can be implemented without too much hassle.

There is no mechanic to pick up dropped items. But we will consider it.

You can select multiple characters by pressing the CTRL key and then drawing a box around them using the mouse. More hot key commands are in the PDF game docs (installed with the game and also here[lodmmo.com]

hi, im glad there is a demo, i'll be trying that out, and the video clips seen so far, show it to actually look like a pretty neat game. :o)

It is a fun game. It has some quirks (which we are working on for the upcoming 1.02 maintenance update) and takes some getting used to, but it is a quick pick-up-and-play game which you can also play across devices (e.g. play on PC, then continue on iOS or Android - and vice versa).

I had a go on the demo , and even if my computer is way below the system requirment mentioned on the steam page it's seem to run fine , not a bad game.
