Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps

Does this game resemble more of mech warrior or phantom crash?
Phantom Crash was an original xbox game that was an amazing mech game. Just wondering if this game will have the option of being able to jump and boost, or roll around instead of walking.

Also, is there going to be 4 weapons per mech or only 2?

So far its more like mech warrior. there are jump jets but they mostly take you upwards. id love an option to have jets to dash on the ground like armored core - i dont think itll be added tho.

As far as im aware you can have like 6 weapons atm, 2 shoulders, 1 top cockpit, 1 bottom cockpit, and the arms.

IMO the best parts of this game so far are the tactical fights, intense weapon customization, faction wars (once everything gets rolling or we get more good people like yourself). and the improving AI.

You buy this game not only for the amazing progress theyve made since release, but also for the constant patches, the devs who give and recieve feedback extremely well, and the potential for the next best PC mech game! Ive owned since release and im extremely happy with my purchase.

You can have 6 weapons on a mech.
There is jump jets, but mechs can't jump without them. There might have been someone talking about a jet to boost along the ground, but that might have been me. But right now, walking and jump jets are the only modes of locomotion. That might change in the future.

Ive mentioned it quite a few times as well. I hope we get a crab style mech at some point :3

Thank you guys for the replies. Just to say, I'm not looking for a PC clone but adding options to locomotion may change how you play the game (and maybe add some dodging prowess to it). Phantom Crash had a simple double tap to dodge left or right. Was simple but effective.

May not be a waste of time to check the game out and see what it did right. It's a Japanese game so ignore the "chips" and talking animals.

This video will give you the long story of it (Garage, mech shops, upgrade shops, tune up shows etc .... ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwNApZMTKj8

This video will throw you into the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_Pb5CXkL3A

You may choose which gate entrance to start from. There are however, only 3 maps available in this game.

im not a huge fan of double tap dodge moves. makes it too much like hawken which plays more like an FPS than a true mech game.

Well, as long as there is some kind of achievable dodge mechanism, I'm happy.

I agree. Maybe a dev can answer this to satisfy our insatiable mech thirsts. i would reiterate this a great buy regardless however

I'll buy him a case of beer if he does.

We talked a bit today after seeing the post about adding the ability to the jumpjets. Each dodge would require X energy in a quick burst.

Theyre considering it. does that mean he gets that case of beer? cause your 15$ could help cover those costs

Though, I don't really think dodging will have too much of an effect on combat here. Guardians, Grenadiers, etc. Against bots, it might be interesting if they can keep up though. It might reduce the effectiveness of a few weapons too. I'm game for trying them out.

I just bought the game, but I must thank OP for reminding me of Phantom Crash. Though I knew it by a different name, it might have been a sequel or something, but I'd wanted to remember that name for awhile, So thank you. So very much.

There is a sequel on the PS2 I believe. Steel Lancer Arena International?

Yep, I played that one too, I played phantom crash up until my xbox literally melted and I couldn't play anymore. Sure I coulda got a new one, but the 360 came out the next day. Also the xbox ate my disc so I had to bust it open to try and get it to find out that it had snapped it in half somehow.

You literally played the game to death. :)
