It's fun, but I don't know if it's good. It certainly isn't a good Dead Rising game. It is best described as a zombie action game in the Dead Rising universe.
Map design is my biggest complaint. The in-game map is unlabled, the city layout makes no logical sense, and there are limited pathways (either opened from the start or discoverable) for faster travel, even after trying to learn the routes of the map (like you would in Dead Rising or especially 2). For a game with such an emphasis on vehicles the map designers seem very intent on not letting you use them to any great extent. My suspicion is the streets are so littered with non-destructable obstacles to limit performance degredation on on the Xbox One.
The entire game appears that it is trying too hard to be 'grown up', and instead comes across as inconsistent, drab, and washed out. Los Perdidos could be any post-apocalyptic city in any post-apocalyptic game, and you would barely be able to tell the difference. The bright, memorable colors of Fortune City are gone in favor of brown and grey washes.
Technically the game is a port through and through. It looks nice when cranked way up, but requires way too much PC muscle for the level of detail and polish shown on screen at once. Plays great with a 360 pad and the M&K controls are fairly well implemented and customizable. My comptuer is older but strong and runs it fine.
The psycho battles range from average to poor. These are definitely the weakest in the series.
The vehicles and weapons are fun, but the power scaling is insanely unbalanced. Some of the most useful and powerful weapons and vehicles are from the earliest missions. The driving design principle seemed to be 'make it bigger' instead of 'make it crazier'.
I have enjoyed the game and do intend to keep playing through it here and there to complete unlockables, but I am a bit dissapointed in the title as a Dead Rising 2 sequel.
Overall, I recommend the game only at a reduced price (25 USD or less), and only with the expectation that you're getting a decent zombie killing 'psuedo-sandbox' game instead of a true Dead Rising sequel.
