Just finished the game, some comments - SPOILERS
TECHNICAL

The fact that the game is on the Unity engine means that it's possible for players to select a bad resolution and be unable to see far enough to the sides to complete a puzzle.

It felt like there was an awkward pause for every action, especially if it involved Malachi doing a special animation, such as reaching into water.

Having an active inventory item, then combining it with something on the map, felt very nonstandard for the genre. However, at least it didn't feel like too many more steps than usual. It would have been nice if Malachi had a witty comment for trying to use an inventory item on all sorts of things.

The Telltale engine is tried and proven, and the Adventure Games Studio engine always feels responsive and efficient, but then again, I guess the custom UI features and cutscenes may have been harder to implement in either of those two engines.

PLOT

Some points felt like they were given too easily, or were too obvious. For example, knowing that Senator Markham is Augustus very early on. It might be interesting if, in the next game of the series, it turns out he's actually Nero or Caligula or something.

It was not explained why Livia needs to marry Augustus in order to make him emperor. It was also not explained why Augustus is the only one who can "save America", rather than any other historical figure. Maybe these are also hooks for the next game, and for a fight against FITA and Markham.

CHARACTERS

This is the strongest point of the game.

OVERALL

I would rate this game as 7/10, and it's always good to have point-and-click adventure games with better writing than Telltale, and with better longevity than most AGS games.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the game! You make some good insights into your play style, and that's always very interesting and benefitial to hear - it gives us things to think about when developing a game. We are actively working on fixing a number of things with the game, one of which being one you mentioned here, which is the delay sometimes encountered before an action is performed. We'll have patch notes up once it goes live. I'll share your feedback with the team so they can see your thoughts and insights, and of course the praise given - that's always a good way to boost spirits!

I just finished Erica Reed GOTY edition, and I now have the following additional comments:

1. Well, at least a few animation oddities were fixed for Moebius. The weird "walking backwards" and strafing thing seems like it belonged more in an FPS.

2. The story and characters for Erica Reed were much more personal and engrossing - although I do hope we will get to know Malachi better in the future as well.

3. I would love to see what Malachi thinks of Enthon Towers and the Le Pendu toy. He would totally be the kind of guy who could afford to rent a place in Enthon Towers. Possibly even have him meet Erica and Rose.

4. Or, Erica could look into a case involving antiques, go to a super-upscale antique store in New York, encounter an ex-military blonde dude and his boss...

5. Malachi and Erica hold hands in order to share visions - Malachi can see clear images of the history of an item, providing enough context for Erica to see the people during specific times. David and Sully proceed to get jealous.

Thank you for the awesomely detailed list, pkwong! I'm glad you enjoyed both games. If we do see a Cognition: Season 2 it may indeed have a few nods to Moebius.
