Probably Archery FAQ
You mention QWOP and Surgeon Simulator, are the controls purposely hard?

Mentioning those games is a double edged sword, it's a good shorthand to get across the style of the controls, but they're actually technically quite different. In Probably Archery you control the wrist, elbow and shoulder joints of your two arms. The joint you're moving is determined by whether you're holding Q or E and the arm is determined by whether you're holding Shift. You move the joint on two axes by moving the mouse left to right and up and down. There are also gamepad controls with the left stick for the left arm and right for right.

So while perhaps not immediately intuitive, the controls make sense within the system and the learning curve is based around your mastery of swapping between joints and moving them in the correct direction. The levels are based around requiring accuracy, speed, etc and push you to become better and better at the controls. There is a point where the controls will become intuitive and second nature, but there's still challenges in the game for when you think you've mastered it.

How long is the game?

The time it takes to play through and complete all the single player levels will depend on how skilled you are in the controls. We've found an average play through of all the single player levels for a new player is between 2-4 hours. The multiplayer modes obviously offer an open ended amount of replayability. Completing the co-op horde mode (which can be played single player as well) is a very difficult task and becomes more difficult the fewer archers involved. I've personally spent many hours trying to finish it with 2 players and will spend many more.

What's new since the demo?

The most obvious addition is the multiplayer. The Team Deathmatch, Co-op Horde and Zombie Soccer modes are all completely new and offer some of the toughest and most fun challenges of the game.

The single player levels that were in the demo have been revamped and improved and new levels like "Eggsterminator" where you need to shoot flying eggs in a china shop while breaking as little as possible have been added.

The Razer Hydra is also supported now (PC version only currently) and offers an entirely new way to play the game. There are also many new graphics and control options, super-sampling support for the Oculus Rift and lots of graphical and performance improvements.

Doesn't the Razer Hydra (motion controls) defeat the purpose of the game?

Yes and no :). Using the Hydra removes the learning curve of the controls, which is a big part of the fun of the game, but it adds a new layer of fun in the freedom of movement and 1:1 arm movement.

We have 2 Razer Hydra control modes, the default offers 1 to 1 control for both arms unless you've nocked an arrow and then the right arm be locked along the arrow direction. The other offers 1 to 1 control for both arms at all times even when nocked.

The gameplay is still challenging as you still need to correctly judge your aim.

Can I use the Oculus Rift and Razer Hydra at the same time?

You sure can. It's an extremely immersive way to play the game and the depth perception and head rotation the Oculus Rift allows can make judging your trajectory and aiming down the arrow line a lot easier.

Are you going to add more to the game? I have suggestions!

We're going to continue to support the game through adding new features that make sense and fixing issues identified. If you have any suggestions, please post them on the Steam forum for the game.

I don't like this sort of game!

I hope you tried it out and didn't pre-judge. If so, that's fine, not all games are for all people. If there's something you think is missing from the game that prevents it from appealing to you then let us know and maybe we'll agree and add it :).

Could you add the option to see where your arrow is going to go in target practice mode before you release the arrow?

Sometimes I think I have a shot lined up but the arrow goes flying off in a weird direction.. clearly the error is mine, I just wish I could calibrate my shots whilst practicing so I can know where I am going wrong and what I need to do to get better.

Congratulations on making a really fun game btw. Having a blast so far!

the only level i can run without outrageous lag is the no gravity one, is there any fix for this? (i have lowest settings)

Sounds like your machine is probably having issues with the grass rendering. We'll add more options, but for now try turning off display settings available and perhaps lowering the resolution.
When the achievements will be fixed?
