Anybody interested in Steam keys for Bot Colony ?
Now that Bot Colony is back in the Steam store, the only way to get Steam keys is to buy the game from the Steam store :) To all the fans who bought Steam keys from myself, or bought the eBook on Amazon when the BUY button was off - a big THANK YOU!

Valve have agreed that it's OK to give keys for completing challenges, as long as you publish your achievement on the Community Hub. To claim you keys email eugene snail-sign northsideinc followed by dot then com.

The Mess Up The House Challenge

Figure out what to do not to get arrested (tip: think about 3) and command Jimmy to mess up the house, but as bad as you can. The more havoc you wreak, the more keys you get. You'll have to publish the screenshots in the Community Hub to get keys. Community likes will count.

- lots of objects out of place, you worked really hard 1 key
- creative disorder with a twist, or total anarchy 2 keys

At some point we'll check in that code we wrote to get Jimmy to spray paint tags :)

The Jimmy bloopers

Dialogue pearls to brighten our day. 1 key

Hey, am I supposed to be able to buy this right now?
I tried to buy earlier today but paypal was all http 500 on me so I was getting blank screen. When I went to try again, the price was not listed anymore and there is no buy button. What's going on? I'm really interested in playing with an AI system...

Please read the last announcement. You will NOT be able to buy this game anymore. Steam have removed the BUY button, since we will shut down the servers powering the game on March 15, and the game will die. We've been transparent about that. That will prevent selling a game that customers can enjoy for only very limited time. We weren't even selling 2 units a day, that would have enabled the servers to pay for themselves (but not to further evolve the game). Mind you, with the current update you can have HOURS of interesting conversation with Jimmy.

Are you still selling the game through your website at all? I would still purchase the game knowing I can only play it this next month.

I just want it for my game counter.
Balduran di Midgard Jan 29, 2015 @ 11:24am
me too...is there a way to purchase the game?
Hal9k Jan 29, 2015 @ 11:30am
I too would like to purchase this game despite knowing the servers will shut down on March 15th. Is there any way you could help us accomplish this, developer?
BotColony  [developer] Jan 29, 2015 @ 12:35pm
I've already contacted Steam and asked them if there was any way to do this. That would be the right way to do it. However, I want people to know about the gameplay available in the new update - so we would not have worked for nothing. If you promise to play and write about it, I want to make sure that you're really interested in this game. I'll need to ask those fans who promise to play the game and write about it to purchase the Bot Colony novel (eBook) at http://www.amazon.ca/Bot-Colony-Novel-Present-Future-ebook/dp/B00K7O6BSE and email the proof of purchase to eugene snail sign northsideinc followed by dot then com. Then I'll know you're serious, and I'll be happy to email you a Steam key. Who knows, you may even get an autographed hardcopy book (it will soon be a collector's item) if you publish an outstanding playthrough description. Is this fair?
Chrono X Jan 29, 2015 @ 12:49pm
That sounds fair to me.

BotColony  [developer] Jan 29, 2015 @ 1:20pm
Well, I see it's available here too for US$8.48, so not only amazon.ca

http://www.amazon.com/Bot-Colony-Novel-Present-Future-ebook/dp/B00K7O6BSE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422566092&sr=8-1&keywords=Bot+COlony

Also, you don't need a Kindle, found this text there
Free Kindle Reading App
Anybody can read Kindle books—even without a Kindle device—with the FREE Kindle app for smartphones, tablets and computers.

A YouTube video instead of writing would be OK. Sharing you experience on Steam would be OK too - didn't mean anything too elaborate - more your impressions on how conversation works when you're playing RVM.

Actually, I just got the reply from Steam (below), and it makes a lot of sense. I will not SELL Steam keys (trust me that after spending $23 million, ten bucks doesn't make much difference), but if it's done respecting my requirements above, it makes sense because a connection with our fans is really important to me and means a lot. If enough people like it, maybe something good will happen. Right now, it's a game with 16 Mixed comments and few in-depth reviews.

Hi Eugene,

There will undoubtedly continue to be customers interested in your game, even long after you can sustain operation. But if you are pulling the plug, then we need to be consistent in that messaging and not let customers buy a product that we know will soon be inoperable. Even if we have that messaging on the store page, there could be customers that still buy the game without fully understanding, and we don’t want to be in the position of selling a game that we know is not going to function in a few weeks.

I think the best way to handle that is for you to reach out to the individual and give them a Steam key for the game if you think that is important.

Cheers!
