Stalingrad: CoDSP has stopped working

I can play the game fine, until Stalingrad. During the boat sequence in the beginning, the game just freezes up and boots me back to desktop with the message "CoDSP has stopped working". I read somewhere that ATI drivers are to blame, so I downloaded an old dll file that would fix the problem, sadly this causes yet another type of crash on startup...

PROBLEM:
This is a known error and mostly appears when you finish the WAKOYA, NORWAY mission with the Tirpitz battleship and you switch to the Russian Campaign (when using the Steam version of Call of Duty).
When you are in the briefing loading screen for the Stalingrad mission, you receive the "CoDSP has stopped working" error message and the game will crash.

It seems that the Call of Duty Steam version is missing files or scripts for the Russian Campaign to load levels.


WORKAROUND:
If you want to continue your Single Player storyline, you can try the following.
Download a savegame-file with a later checkpoint from the link below.


Download Call of Duty savegame files:
http://www.nicouzouf.com/en/?id=callofduty

For example, use the savegame "1: Start" or "2: Suicide Run" from the mission "RED SQUARE, STALINGRAD".

When you have downloaded this savegame-file, extract it to your
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty\Main\save
directory and launch Call of Duty.
From the Main Menu, go to Load Game, search and select the recent added savegame and you should continue your storyline.


RETURNING PROBLEM WORKAROUND:
If you face this error again in the future when reaching a new level, do the same again. Download a savegame-file from the beginning of this mission, extract it to the save folder and load the savegame-file from inside the game.

I hope this workaround is the solution to this problem!
