VERSION 1.1 UPDATE
EDIT: (Bit of a double-post here but I'd like to share this with everyone.)

The new version addresses the autosave issues, but doesn't totally correct them... You now get a noticeable "saving to disk" icon when the game is autosaving. And I've added in a couple more autosave points.

I went for an old-school look to the save icon as an ode to 90s-era adventure games when floppy disks were all the rage.

It still needs more work, and I need to remove some of the ambiguity (for example, if you return to a checkpoint, you see the disk icon again, but you're not really saving again--it's based on when you first entered that checkpoint)...but it's a start. At least now you know when it saves and if you want to "save and quit" from the main menu, right after seeing the icon is a good spot as you shouldn't loose your location then.

I'd dive right into more updates but it seems to be workable for most people AND I'm heading for E3 tomorrow. I can't not go of course, but the timing is terrible. I've hired a programmer to help with things while I'm away (like the Mac build) so hopefully we won't lose much time this week.

Very sorry I couldn't reply to more threads today. Trying hard to keep up and be responsive to the biggest issues.

EDIT: Ah, the joys of game development... no sooner than I posted this, I returned to the build and discovered a new gamestopping bug, and now an hour or so later I've FIXED that bug, but I'm back to where I was: ready to test and then upload the build. So I'm sorry but reset that timeline for another hour out... but it's coming!

Hi All, I've been pretty quiet today, but only because I've been working on a 1.1 update that fixes some of the more serious issues discovered yesterday. Including:

-Added a saving game icon/indicator so you know when you've hit an autosave checkpoint.
-Added more auto-save checkpoints.
-Fixed a serious issue for some users in Poland/Italy.
-Addressed a few other minor bugs and issues.

I'll update this thread when it's posted. Just wanted you to know I'm not ignoring you! Thanks to everybody who's posted kind/positive reviews... as well as those who at least gave it a try or provided constructive feedback. Really overwhelmed by how well received it's been and how many nice things have been said. Hopefully this update will help make it even better!

Again I'll update here when the update is live...should be within the hour! (Edit: It's live now)

@Dave, so great that this is finally out :) Feature request, whenever you get a chance, can you make an option to turn subtitles on / off ?

Bought on GOG and played a bit. Love it, good job!

A suggestion: When walking backward, character should actually walk backward, because on some narrow platforms repositioning yourself by having him spinning around can make him fall, better make few steps backward to be careful. And it would look really cool, also.
At least as an option in the menu, for the clumsy folks (backward walk).

Another thought, less important: When you transit between levels (like between the undergound hospital and the outside) the view fades out smoothly but then pops in suddenly, it would be smoother if it would also fade in. Not big deal, but it kind of felt a bit interrupting, especially with the dark/bright level transition (maybe slower fade in to be better on the eyes).

Appreciate the save fix Dave, I was so addicted to the game I kept playing anyway. Fantastic work, albeit the bugs are inevitable given you've basically made the game on your own.

Good luck at E3, hope you get the exposure for the game you need.

These are all minor things for me but:

Said this before in a different thread.

Maybe the wrong thread so posting here in case.

Some of the Achievments don't seem to be working..

ie: play more than 10hrs - on 11th hour - 0.01% have this. <== You

lifeless astonaut - death by "deathflower" isn't registering. 0.0% players have this.

If you have more games in the works I would be interested in backing. lol

I've started playing full version of the game, from the last early acces save (GATE), so I missed jetpack achievment. Now in level BADLANDS I had second oportunity to enable extended boost with the jetpack but achievment didn't work. It could be fixed.
And thank You much for the "Lorem Ipsum" fix. Now game is playable :)

Addicted to this game, found a problem in the Badlands, (for me anyway) placed rock in power unit base, but cannot get the arm to deploy, to place the rock in operating position, any suggestions.

You must find position where arm icon appears. If it's impossible, try to remove energy rock and put it again in base. If it won't help, kill yourself and try again from last save. If not... You found a game bug.
