Well, where to start with this game. It is easy to be swallowed in to the game by it's rich storyline and a fantasticly written dialogue - but it's not just that. I felt immersed in this game that was able to describe and not only give me an idea of - but also allow me to feel like I was suddenly pulled into a vampire society. Which, judging by the popularity of the vampire genre in video gaming, seems to be something that many games involving vampires have great difficulty with.
I look forward to the future and hope that the vampire genre can be inspired by this game.
I'll list the pros and cons of this briefly, from my experience.
~ Deep and non-linear storyline.
~ At the start, you can choose your stats or 'roll' them randomly (let the game decide!), and have a choice of clans with their own personality, background, advantages and disadvantages.
~ Creative and well written dialogue, of which can change depending on chosen clan.
~ Voice acting that fits well with the characters and enriches their personalities.
~ Many hours of play filled with many missions and many choices for you to make.
~ Experience various entertaining kinds of insanity.
~ There are bugs. The patch does help with this and is easy to find with a web search. However, it does not eliminate them completely, and this is also to be expected when playing an old game. Personally I wasn't bothered by them, as I was too busy enjoying the storyline.
~ Combat is funky. This links with the bugs, but don't get me wrong - there are tough fights.
~ Graphics can be improved with the patch I believe, but are still old. It's not disasterous or unplayable however, by any means - on the contrary, very good for an old game in my opinion.
~ For some people this will be a con. SAVE OFTEN. Your experience of the game will differ in places depending on the choices you make, and you may want to go back to have a different experience later. And then of course, there's always the possibility of getting shredded up and dying.
