Majesty: Gold Edition

Majesty: Gold Edition

Majesty 1 (non HD) vs Majesty 1 HD?
I bought the original Majesty when it was released. I also have M2 and beat it recently, it didn't seem as good as I remember M1 (mostly due to AI) so I'd like to revist the 1st. I'd like to know if anyone else owns both the original Majesty and the HD version if it's worth buying the HD version? I've read a lot of posts about it being buggy, but perhaps the original one is too? Mine is in storage at the moment.

Overall, I already paid for Majesty back in the day, so I'm probably just going to play it and not buy it again considering the bug reports. But if anyone has both and has an opinion, please share.

HD is also ported to work with the newer versions of windows better
HD version is slow as snail ♥♥♥♥ on both Windows 8 and Ubuntu. Just don't bother until Cyberlore fixes (don't hold your breath).

Don't hold your breath. People over at Paradox think there aren't enough Majesty fans to matter, one has said this even.

There's a fix for Majesty to run normal.

What is that fix?

Try right clicking your Majesty exe from within your Steam folder on your hard-drive, set a new shortcut, then add the following lines to the launcher's name:
-useddblit -blitmovietobackground

Ok cool glad it helped! My Windows 8 laptop had the same problem with this game.

A bit of googling could and shoulder deliver the same or even better results than this "HD Release" which costs a lot money for almost nothing (if you own the original game)

There aren't even any achievements or trading cards, which is the only benefit of buying an old barely-upgraded game on steam can have... I mean, just go to GoG then if Steam offers absolutely nothing extra, because at least there you pay only once for a copy that everyone in your household can use.

And if you don't own the original game I would say:
  • Either buy the steam release when it's at least 50% off.
  • Or get it cheaper on GoG[www.gog.com]!
  • Or just download it... 'cause the devs obviously don't care about their fanbase.

What? I just recently beat the game, but I don't remember seeing any quests that weren't in the original, which I also own.

The 2 downloable quests were included as part of HD. They're located in the top left. There's also the demo quest "Vampiric Revenge" which was part of the Majesty tech demo. Sadly, the Wizard voice clips and alternate animations that were cut from the tech demo are not included.

This is so patently false... Paradox gave permission to a Cyberlore dev to work on this despite owning the rights to the Majesty franchise now, which is why HD came out in the first place. And now there's a beta for modding tools available.

Buy however you want, but the dev is doing the best he can with what he has right now.

By the way, Majesty has recently added a Steam Workshop for custom quests. That's another reason to purchase this.
