1.3079.jar failed to load and "Could not find the main class: Game.Main"
1a. Uninstall old verisons of java and reinstall to the latest version http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
2b. Really make sure you removed older updates of Java.

2. Game crash's even after Java update
1a. Do Steam Verify on game files.
2b. If still no luck go into the 3079.exe properties, run it in Compatibility mode for Windows 7, disable Visual Themes, and ran it as admin.

Make sure your video card drivers are uptodate.

bought 3079, -89 and 4089 on sale. All of them showing the same error Zaukster mentioned. What's the deal?

Make sure you get Java from here:

http://www.java.com/getjava

Java 8+ is required, which isn't included in Apple's distribution.

If you are getting a "full screen not found" error, try changing the graphics settings & uncheck Fullscreen.

I get an error code 1603 when trying to install java. I used their removal tool to be sure that there was nothing installed. It says on their website that this is a known issue with no known solution with some tips to try and I've tried them all again and again and yes I disabled the real time protection on my anti virus. I have windows 7 64bit. I've had this problem with java for at least 6 months and have tried it with almost every new version that has come out to no avail. Short of reinstalling windows 7 do you have any suggestions?

Do you have a sound card? OpenAL is the audio library, which is saying it is finding an invalid device... can you try updating your sound card drivers?

Have you tried this?

http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable_launcher

Basically, it allows you to run Java applications without installing Java. This might solve all of your other Java problems, too.

I wish that were so but it does not associate with Java, and running your javahome.jar manually through the launcher doesn't work either. Here is the cmd window txt log

'"C:\Users\lheminez\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\IEUpdate\PATHPING.EXE"' is
not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
If the game runs fine, minimize (but don't close) this window!

* If WinRAR/7zip or some other archiver comes up, check the
community discussion for a pinned solution!
* If something else breaks, try installing the latest Java 8
from www.java.com/getjava and uninstall other versions.

The system cannot find the file specified.
Java JARs not associated correctly.. backup launching..
Press any key to continue . . .

I noticed there was an error trying to find pathping in ieupdate and after searching that directory down and enabling system folder viewing I find there is nothing in that folder and when I try to copy pathping from system32 to that directory it won't let me due to permissions. Even though I am the owner and I do have full control, just not according to effective permissions I basically have read only access. Not sure if it's related.

I spent several hours on this just now and I've come to find out that there are about 5 versions of Java in the java default directory. A 1.6, a 1.7 and 3 different 1.8 versions. NONE of these show up in the Programs list to be uninstalled through that system utility. When I run the Java config tool for the most recent version it does start although in the java tab only 3 versions show there one for each and all are enabled so I unchecked the older versions after I did the suggested standard troubleshooting of disabling and enabling java in the browser and hitting apply each time and restarting the browser.

The only interesting development is that now the browser actually lists Java as an add-on again and it is enabled and should work. Yet when I go to the java site to verify or remove older versions it acts as if java is not enabled. I even tried resetting my security prompts and deleting my java cache through the config tool.

Java still gives me error 1603 when I try to install (offline/online 64/32 makes no difference). Your game still does not work and tries to get me to select the appropriate program to run the jar file. I've tried the portable and portable launcher and several of the exe's in the java directory and none of them get the game going. Another note is if I leave that cmd window open steam thinks I'm actually playing your game so I'm running out of time before I hit that 2 hr mark.

Any more ideas?

I'm thinking PATHPING might be the program associated with JARs on your machine, which is why you see that pop up when javahome.jar is attempted.

You might be able to change the JAR association to one of your Java 1.8 installs (even if it isn't listed in Add/Remove Programs):

http://johann.loefflmann.net/en/software/jarfix/index.html

Some manual ways if the above doesn't work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXb_GQz1cA4

That may allow you to run it...
