3079 -- Block Action RPG

3079 -- Block Action RPG

This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Minecraft comparisions? Read here first!
Yes, 3079 looks like Minecraft. No, 3079 is not a "Minecraft clone" or "rip-off". 3079 uses an original, but similar block engine like Minecraft -- this is why they look alike. However, 3079 is about war, quests, items & role-playing elements and is not focused on mining or crafting. As SeaNanners said in his review on the main page, 3079 plays much more like Borderlands than Minecraft (even with 3079's building features).

Any "Minecraft clone" posts will be removed.

Thank you for understanding,
- Phr00t

Are there vehicles?
phr00t  [developer] Nov 14, 2013 @ 9:29am
Yes, you can fly (and hijack) fighter ships!
Toad Nov 14, 2013 @ 9:30am
What about land vehicles?

No land vehicles there as I know.

No land vehicles... kinda awkward with the blocky terrain. I also want the player to focus on their character's skills/health/weapons/etc on ground, and not a vehicle's that they hopped in.

People are silly. Isn't Minecraft a "rip-off" of Infiniminer or Dwarf Fortress? Art can draw inpiration from other art. Just enjoy it.

Minecraft is a DF ripoff? Have you played DF?

People who call this a minecraft ripoff really need to cool it. Unless it is literally 100% like minecraft, there's no need to flame on it. Art with similarities to other art is still original art.

Good on the dev team for doing something about the "this is a minecraft ripoff" flame threads!

Mincecraft did not invent voxel game genre. So u say evry game that has voxels is mincecraft clone? I say DING DONG BANNU!
Necrius Nov 14, 2013 @ 10:33am
It's FPS Cube World in futuristic setting, basically? WIth minecraft blockiness.

I agre with u that many ppl try to cash in on mincecraft success like ppl like Fortresscraft, but the visul style is not too bad. Mincecraft is actully one of more pretty indy games becuz of it simplistic visulz.

people make me giggle :P saying that a voxel based game is a clone of minecraft is as stupid as saying grand turismo and grand theft auto are the same because you can race cars, there's so much more in this game thank minecrft, and equally, there so much more to minecraft than this game, completly different GENRES even. anyhoo my two cents... bye!

Ok, time for a little education...

THAT is a game that has voxels that can rightly claim to not be ripping off Minecraft in any way.

3079, meanwhile, is intentionally made to look similar to Minecraft. People who claim that 3079 looks that way because of voxels need to research what voxels actually are. Here's a hint: voxels can be used for a hell of a lot more than just cubes.
phr00t  [developer] Nov 14, 2013 @ 5:39pm
Voxels can be used for many things, correct. However, just because a game uses a similar form of voxels doesn't make it a "rip-off" or "clone". Games use similar visuals and even some concepts all the time -- and that is not a bad thing. No game is ever completely unique in every category. 3079 uses a similar voxel system, yes, but I wrote it from scratch and did things like include sloped surfaces to make it look different. However, the differences are found mostly in gameplay, and that is OK.

Also, keep in mind, Minecraft took the blocky look & mining gameplay from a game called Infiniminer, which is also OK!
