random freezing
game freezes frequently, apparently randomly for anywhere from 30 to 120 seconds. doesn't occur in battle, only when riding around and in menus (i have only gotten to 3rd room of training area.) it's not playable like this.

running on windows 7 home premium 64 bit. 4 GM ram. intel dual core processor (M540 @ 2.53ghz). Nvidia geforce 310M and no idea what any of that means. i have turned all settings to lowest possible.

nobody else seems to have a similar problem in windows 7...any ideas would be appreciated!

The graphics card seems a bit on the lower end, but I wouldn't think that it should have issues like this. Does your system overheat a lot? Run a lot of extra programs in the background while you also play the game?

thanks for the reply.

i'm not aware of a heat issue. there is perceptible airflow and no visible signs of dust blockage. I should take the time to clean the fans anyway just because of the age of the system - almost 4 years.

updating graphics drivers myself is litterally impossible because i was stupid enough to purchase a laptop from sony.

the only other thing running during play is steam. there is one piece of junk-ware on my machine that i wasn't able to remove; it has marginal cpu usage but i can and have tabed out and ended it dudring gameplay.

i was under the impresssion that this game was fairly old. i have no issues with other games on steam including portal 2 and skyrim. but it evedently must be an issue on my end because google can't find anyone with this problem.

Your gfx card should be fine.
Have you tried running the game via the executable and not through Steam?

thanks for the suggestion. steam opens itself again (from fully exited.) to offer the save file recovery/play the game option. if i tab out of the game, steam won't allow me to exit untill i have closed the game.

i'm going to look into fixes for the crashing some people are experiencing to see if that helps...

I am also finding my game freezes often, my GFX is runnng @ 37C at the time (give or take) so over heating not an issue... wondering if its windows 8 or if its everyone...?

had a few issues with diffrent games before, however it got solved when i ran it as admin.

i discovered that the overheating was due to the cpu, must be caused by some kind of loop. My guess is a windows 8 active x error. Running the program in windows 7 solved the overheating issues for me.

The poster says 310M after her video card type. I assume this could be how much RAM the video card has. The miniumum ram for a video card expected by this game is 512 MB. This could be the cause of freezing, you are running out of RAM quickly and the game is suffering because of it.

310 is a very odd amount of ram, is usually 64,128,256,512 etc....
doing a quick google, the 310M can have upto 1GB of ram.
