But honestly, i dont see why you would take them into your faction... I've always found it to be more rewarding if you just... stay alone in the axis! :P
But there are some odd situations where the US could join the Comintern when Japan attacks.
In some games I have been playing the US and maintained good relations with Germany, selling them anything they need, especially, rares. When Japan DOWs, I do join the Allies but am not at war with "Axis", only Japan.
I do not know how to reliably recreate these situations, but it is interesting when it happens.
Caveat - I haven't played HoI3 since last autumn. Logged about 1900 combined hours between Steam and standalone...I bought XCOM one day, and never went back.
