Is new update INFECTED?
My Norton virus protection says the download from earlier today is infected with the TROJAN.GEN2. virus. Please check and advise.

No. It is NOT infected. EVERY TIME Norton reports infected, EVERY TIME is false positive.
A better site to check is virustotal. I just resubmitted the last .exe and as you see there are only a few antivirus reporting it as false positive, including Norton (Symantec):

DO NOT USE a virus checker with Steam delivered games, as advised by Valve. Exclude the entire directory from checking.

To Winter Wolves. Thanks just wanted to check OK as this is the first time I have had a major virus alert in using Norton with Steam and I have been using them together since Steam started. Have only previously had Norton insight problems and low level cookies which i have excluded but ahving been in IT since 1973 and had some recent problems with other issues I am cautious and do not wish to run wiyh total Steam eclusion from virus checking.

But Norton is not a niche product. Over a few decades, I have installed many, many games on my PC's, which were all protected by Norton, and I can count the ones Norton complained about with a Troian.Gen (or similar) warning on one hand. At the same time, I did not have any problems with viruses or Troians (I have become aware of), thanks to Norton.
Looks like your exe contains code which resembles closely a Troian - why?
I'm not saying that your game is really infected by a Troian, but I'm pretty sure you know what exactly in your exe causes Norton's complaint, and I'm also convinced you could do something about it.

It's your decision whether or not you want to ignore Norton.
Technically, there are several ways:
- you can terminate Norton completely (not advised)
- you can exclude the whole Steam folder or the Loren folder or the Loren executable from Norton checking (I advise strongly against excluding a whole folder from Norton checking).

This leaves the executable (at your own risk). The easiest method is to click "Details" when Norton informs you that it has eliminated the exe. Then a small window pops up where you can tell Norton to restore the offending exe, and to exclude it from future scans.
If you have closed the Norton message box already, you'll have to open the Norton application. From there, there are several ways to get the Loren exe back. For example, you may try to open the message log, where the message regarding the Loren exe should be the first of the list. If you open the message details, you'll see an option to restore the exe.

I decided not to ignore Norton. I am using Norton for years and learned to trust Norton. It is possible that some binary signature in the file is equal to a known virus and the game is not infected. But I rather skip this release and use the former version or wait for the next release.
Sorry Winter Wolves, I am just careful.

By the way, your update note mentions you are using Ren'Py to create the game. Isn't is possible that the virus is in the Ren'Py code?

Norton is very nearly malware. Get rid of it.
Norton is actually very efficient and great protection. I have blocked at Least HUNDREDS of threats with it, most of them either virus or trojan infection attempts. This is, however, not a real Trojan.Gen.2. It is, as the developer says, a FALSE POSITIVE. I have reported this to Norton and they have informed me it will be REMOVED as of the next virus definition updates. There. It's done. Play the fun game :steamhappy:
And yes, as lonetrav very clearly instructed for the average layman above, simply click Details and then Restore and then Confirm that you wish to EXCLUDE. (Trust in me; I've worked with computers and electronics since I was 7, they're very cool devices) Have fun with Loren! :hypercube:

Thanks for confirming. Well, until the next update. Then, they'll mark it again as virus, scare a few people, and the history repeats :D haha
