When it's done I'll upload it to Imgur, but for now it's easier to update it with dropbox if we find any new letters.

HARNESSING A GREAT WELLSPRING, A PERFECT IMMORTAL CELL WAS CRAFTED TO BE IMBUED WITHIN ALL SENTIENT LIFE
Unfortunately, the second section only makes sense if the devs made a typo; a word really looks like it should be GOAL, but the third letter is HB. Still, assuming that is a typo, the second section reads thusly:
A NOBLE GOAL, THOUGH SUCH A POWER TERRIFIED OTHERS, AND BROUGHT RUIN AS ITS PURPOSE WAS TRANSMOGRIFIED

THE ABHORRENT CELL STILL FESTERS DEEP IN THE CHAMBERS OF THIS WORLD

..thnx to everyone involved, keep up the good work guys.

i already found 4 of these, no idea how to decrypt though
BaneOfOrion Mar 31, 2016 @ 11:39am
I highly doubt that it will be anything intelligible, even if each symbol corresponds to a real letter, there is no garuantee that the language will be a modern one.
What i want to know is how the hell to open these things. The western one had about 4 of those little red U symbols, while the northern one had at least a dozen.

The little red U symbols are keys. They're found on dead bodies, look like the weapon drops.

I've only found 3 so far, they're pretty well hidden

Thanks for the Info, i'll have to go back and see if i've found anytthing.

i'm pretty sure it's intelligible, it's probably read from up and down instead of left to right and it looks like letters to words.
FEZ had the same thing, just these weird symbols everywhere and you could decipher it and read it. you didn't have to but it was possible to do and i think it was needed on some puzzles if i'm remembering correctly.

the amount of detail they've put in to this game i'm sure they've not just thrown in some random symbols on these things you find, what would be the meaning of that? if it was just collectables i'm pretty sure they'd just throw in some kool looking symbol instead of something actually looking like a readable language

Okay, I haven't played the game much yet, but I "typed" out the symbols on the pic as letters and hope others can build on that. I'm going to as well.

I used http://www.counton.org/explorer/codebreaking/frequency-analysis.php to allocate E and T, the rest is random and everything is not worth much anyway since they're so few letters and I don't even know if it is read T2B or L2R first.

This game is amazing already! :D

BTW: It's definitely not the FEZ alphabat since I'm still fluent in that one :)

Interesting, I haven't heard about this Fez game before, but if members of the Dev team put the effort in to that one anything goes, i guess. Will be interesting.
I for one want to learn more about the war between the Blumans and the Racoons.

Once someone finds and posts all 16 tablets, Frequency Analysis should help a ton at figuring out most of the letters, and then we can use the shop signs in town for even more.

Once all of the signs are deciphered, it should be a piece of cake going back to the tablets and filling in the blanks until we not only have the alphabet, but a translation of whatever lore they might be hiding.

Here's the 7 I've found so far (mostly from the Mountain and Forest):

Only 15 different characters in there, but that should be enough for most words if anyone wants to get started on it.

There may be some kind of Rosetta Stone or Rosetta Pebble at least somewhere. Like an 'Hello' or 'Shop' in this alphabet.

I just hope it is english... :)

--- Edit

I typed out Zarkaths screenshot. One of them was the same as OPs. The layout of the symbols suggest top2bottom first...

E T A O I N S are assigned to frequency, but are not safe at all

nice work

@~Zarkith
yea we should try collecting all the stones first

i'm also hoping for a small rosetta stone somewhere to help solve it.

@BaneOfOrion
these aren't the same devs as the ones who did FEZ, i just mentioned it because of some similarities with the language

One thing I've noticed from the shop signs by trying to see where words like "Bomb" or "Sword" would fit, is that the O- symbol that shows up so frequently could be multiple vowels in a single character.
Even with the frequency of E's in the english language, this one character repeats an alarming number of times, at least in town at any rate.

Other HLD characters might also represent multiple latin characters, but we'll have to wait until we've got all the tablets before we can say for sure, though even then we're probably not going to get 26 unique characters.

I'm 80% sure I've figured out S and D based on this, and if I figure out anything definitive I'll be sure to post it.

@~Zarkith
that makes a lot of sense.
from what i've seen it seems to be fewer symbols than letters so its possible some are sharing symbol.
this is going to be a lot easier if it turns out to be english lol, fingers crossed

This is insane lmao. I hope you guys do end up finding something.

T and D share a character.
A, E, and O share a character.

This is great. Do that with the other shopkeeps and that would get probably most of the letters.
