Newest Update - Virus-Warning
Ok, so right now Steam is loading the newest Update and AntiVir is warning me that "violett.exe" has the Virus "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen3" in it

I'm not guessing you are trying to spy on me or something.. I'm just saying

I've found this in other game thread ("TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen3"):

"It dawned on me that Steam have recently changed the method they use to apply DRM to Steam builds. Our latest update was the first of our builds to use this new method, so I'm curious as to whether that is what is causing the issue."

We have used a new DRM method from Steam for the first time. I guess this antivir is "AVIRA", is'nt it?

That's probably just a false alarm caused by too sensitive heuristic algorithm used by Avira. We always check our game files (and all systems) with antiviral software before launching, and everything looked OK. But anyway we will analyze this alarm ASAP. For sure we DO NOT SPY ANYONE for any purpose.

Since the developers seem to read this: I tried to install the game (since there are new Achievements), however, upon reaching 99-100%, the whole download ended without actually installing the game. Is this related to the Virus warning (Avira removed the file in question)?

if you did let avira delete the file.. than yes, that is why it failed.. check if did let it go into quarantäne first and can let it put back

if it isn't there - you will have to let the game check it's on valide files (if i remember right it is under installed games > violett > details > properties > lokal files)

and ofcause you have to click on details when avira is comming up again - than check on "always ignore" - but still if you search for viruses it will find it again next time, so you will have to configure your avira and put the violett.exe into ignore manually by searching for "programs"\steam\steam_apps\common\violett\violett.exe

Always keep in mind that you might weaken your System every time you enter an file in the configuration of Avira

Kaspersky doesn't give me a virus warning, So I think it might be a false warning from your anti-virus.

when i try to update steam, avira starts telling me that GameOverlayUI contains TR/dropper virus. The update wont finish and i can not access Steam. Could someone help me?
Solanum nigrum Jun 6, 2014 @ 11:16am
You have to teach Avira that "GameOverlayUI" is not an Virus: don't click "OK" click "Details" and chose the Ignore-Option when the Pop-Up apears

I still have a problem. When Avira says that it has detected a virus my options are Remove and Details. If i click details Avira starts a system scan and I may not choose if I want to ignore the virus or not.

Problem solved! I just turned avira off and let the update finish and then i turned it back on!
