No.

I mean it's a game they're trying to claim is a Baldurs Gate game. But it isn't. I even hope it's good. But it still won't be a BG.

It was inended to be the 3rd part of the bg series, however BW cancelled it and made TOB the ending. Am curious what changes they made to it.

What confuses me is the #Baldur's Gate

Its a Baldur's Gate game set between the two games.
Any developer who has a timer/countdown better have something impressive to show, because for them to missing out on e3 and then end up with this "timer" better resolve in something impressive.

"Its a Baldur's Gate game set between the two games."

Untrue. That's like saying the bad fan fic you read is a novel in the series. Let's not pretend the EE content holds a candle to the core game. Now imagine a full game of it.

Well, atleast some of the people on beamdogs actually worked on BG& NWN and also have the rights to the franchise.

I suspect the game wont live up to any expectations, however, they have a timer so maybe they do have infact something they are atleast proud of.

Beamdog was heavily restricted in what they could do with the EEs. The content isn't half bad when you consider that none of it was allowed to interfere or change the vanilla game in any fashion.

I know it's really cool to bash the new content, but considering the circumstances it was as good as it could have been. I'll at least wait until the game is revealed to damn it.

Sorry, but Neeras voice acting is not fitting to the rest of the game. The writing is meh. The dialogues are meh. I'm not BASHING it per se. In BG1 there's almost none of that at all, having it was actually a welcomed distraction for me. But then you get to BG2 and see the Jaheira or Viconia romance side by side with the Neera opening quest and romance. And well... be honest. Do you really think it holds up?

Nurp.

BG1 is a big playground even with that restriction. They could create their own entire quest lines, NPCs, plot hooks, etc. Can't change the critical path, but there's sooooo much room outside the critical path and they did so little with it.

All I'm saying is the quality of the NPCs and quests they made does not bode well for "Filler: The Game" because they are in line with, at best, the worst of Vanilla. Neera matches the worst of the romances, Aerie. Maybe. Rassad is about as meh as Anomen in terms of character development and story. You get the idea.

And that's what it has to be by default. Raise the XP level too high and you walk into BG2 overleveled. It's going to be at best DLC sized content sold as a game.

The Hexxat questline was decent, but that's about it. I avoid the rest of the new cast, because they feel so very different to the original characters, the writing is just worse in every way.

Oh man, I only just started looking into this again from when it cropped up in Jan. Stoked for the 23 hour reveal now. Checked this at the right time!

I know for a fact the game is 1.5. It's going to be about what happened to the hero between the ending of BG1 and the beginning of BG2, it's actually going to fill the major gap about how you became so interesting to whatshisface right up until you got caught and wake up in the jail cell.

That's a matter of opinion, not a matter of fact. Personally, I really liked Neera and felt her little story was well introduced and told. Her side quest was fun in BG1 and she had a surprising amount of dialogue with a lot about her going on throughout the game. It surprised me to say the least and really felt like she was part of the original game. I hadn't played the game to the point you meet her in the original BG1 but when I seen her in EE I really got the impression they did justice to the spirit of the original game.

I do agree about the romance side quest for Jaheira and Neera in BG2... I read about it a bit as I was confused when I got to the point with the statue and... apparently... Choosing Neera really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and cut off that part of the story. Kind of miffed about that but i'll do a replay of the game eventually and cut Neera off. Having said that I don't think she matches the worst of romances... Keep in mind if you're playing BG2:EE you're probably coming from BG1:EE and if you choose Neera it's probably because you chose her in BG1 which has the option of flowing over from BG1 to BG2, pretty nice if you ask me all considered. In BG2 Jaheira was a bit of a weird one... her and her husband are your best friends in BG1, Khalied dies and then you start taking up Jaheira... It's kind of like Mass Effect 3's gay romance option where one of your gay male ship mates just had his boyfriend killed then two seconds later you're hitting on him. Granted the Jaheira romance is a lot more structured and paced and not simply one check list after another to meet the criteria, it's still basically that just paced differently.

I really enjoyed Neera from BG1. At first her voice was a bit annoying but I got used to it. Her dialogue was pretty good and they went way beyond what any other character in the original game were capable of in terms of involvement. She was a lot more involved whereas the other characters just felt like they were tag alongs with very little to add to the game overall. Once you did the character's quests that was that and most of the quests really weren't interesting in the slightest.

I'm hopeful for BG1.5 and would welcome a BG3 from Beamdog. I'd buy it up in a heartbeat. You can tell they really had a passion for the original games when they added the things they did. It felt respectful and in good taste with most, if not all, of the dialogue fitting perfectly. Surprising given the game is over 15 years old and they could even come close to capturing the original game's tone and add to it.

I'm excited for it. I don't understand why people feel the need to bash the EE's and this new game coming. Also it will be a Baldur's Gate, sorry if you're such a purist that you can't even fathom someone else keeping the series alive, but personally I couldn't be happier about it.

It's not like it's a bunch of strangers who never worked on the originals either, some of them were involved in the original games so it's in good hands.

David Warner returned to to voice work for this upcoming game/expansion. I was all in after that reveal.

I'm cautiously optimistic. My biggest worry isn't so much the content but bugs. I experienced numerous side quest endings bugs in both BG 1 & 2 EE.

I'll be interested to see if you will be playing the same character, importing from BG 1 for instance, or if this will be a side story with a new character.

I didnt experience any bugs in BG EE or BG2 EE - please understand that im not doubting you or calling youa liar, im 100% sure there are bugs in it, the game is massive.
But my point remain, some of us didnt experience bugs- or maybe missed it if so...
