I am surprised at the amount of bugs
Don't misunderstand me, I am not shouting in anger when I say that. But I find the number of bugs I have come across in this game to be glaring. Five times, NPC's haven't shown up, or are in dialogue loops that require me to google fixes, and then I have to use the CLUA console to fix it.

To say I am also disapointed at this would be an understatement. I don't imagine I'll bother playing through the EE versions again after this runthrough.

I guess I should have expected it. After all I bought BG:EE on the day it came out, hoping to play multiplayer and found that it was a borderline travesty. As in, something that had been working for thirteen(?) years was now broken. I guess I should have known that Overhaul Games isn't quite ready for something this big.

Dorn constantly repeating himself when I go to do his first quest(Endless speaking)

The spirit at the cabin not showing up after doing the first quest in the ranger stronghold

The mother not spawning in trademeet for the second tanner/skinner quest

In the planar prison, Renias(sp) and half the troop not spawning so I couldn't even teleport out

Bottomline, breaking a game that previously didn't have breaks in it, is a serious issue.

I picked this game up for $5 on Steam several weeks ago, but haven't had a chance to play it. If what you are saying is correct then it is disappointing for sure. I own the BG series from back in the day so I guess I will end up having to bring it back to life using a virtual program of some sort because having to play a classic like BG with bugs is...well....unacceptable. Of course, once I revive BG I will have to replay the Icewind Dale series as well :)

We feel mostl the same then. But it isn't a bad experience, just frustrating that in my many times playing through this series I never had any issues, but now... it seems common.

Give it a shot though, the characters are well enough written that they blend seamlessly, when there are no bugs.

From somone who bought bg1 and bg2 when they first came out in retail cd form and spent months playing them I will say they didnt do a bad job in creating the latest enhancements so far ive only encountered 1 bug in about 140hrs game play thats not bad imo.

I just want Planescape torment, Temple of elemental Evil, Throne of Darkness and Sanitarium in HD and I can die happy by reliving the old days of real PC gaming xD

Ahhh those are all great games. Not sure I want them remade in HD. I only say this because unless you are going to get the original developers to do it then more than likely someone is going to alter something and muck it up. Just seems to be the way things work in this industry. That being said, I have had my eye on this gem for quite sometime: https://eternity.obsidian.net/buy . The people making this are the very ones who brought us BG, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment. Very excited about it. Wish I had had the funds to invest in it when it was on Kickstarter, though.

Yeah, I plan on playing it because the EE version does offer some extra features that might add a little spice to the game. That and I already shelled out the cash so I kind of have no choice but to give it a go. :)

The head of Overhaul Games (Trent Oster) had stated on twitter about two months ago (June 18th) that he was hopeful they would have a patch out in 2 months.

Well 2 months later they still haven't released BGEE 1.3 or started public beta testing for 1.3 for BG2EE. Basically given the size of BG2EE I'd be surprised if they took less than two months doing public beta testing for it (which is done through owners of the game on Beamdog). So maybe look for a patch around late october to november?

This is optimism on my part of course. BGEE 1.2 has a lot less glaring issues than BG2EE, is a smaller game, and public beta testing for BGEE 1.3 began in february and 6 months later that patch still isn't out. So basically a patch in BG2EE's case could be a long time coming (even though its been 8.5 months since the release of the last patch).

I just wrapped up BG:EE 100% bug free and was super excited to roll my character over to BG2:EE, (having never played BG2 in any form), and the sheer amount of bugs is crippling. To hear the patch is probably far off is disappointing...

I have a lot of experience with this game, and I've had to delve into global variables through the CLUA consol and shadow keeper a few times. So I'm making do. But just barely. My best advice is to keep MANY save games, and don't save over them until you are at least a dozen hours further into the game.

You may be surprised but you may have to go back quite far to avoid things.

Hmm, guess I better unistall then because I wouldn't tolerate that well.

just uninstall and email your complaints to the developer. it'd be nice if the forums were for relevant topics.
Palmer_Eldritch Aug 17 @ 12:39pm
I'd say whether or not the game even functions is rather relevant.

My situation has apparently even gotten worse. Whole triggers aren't working now. I've had to redo the escape from spell hold TWICE because a crystal I was supposed to get for defeating kobolds wouldn't spawn in my inventory.

And just a few minutes ago, I had to redo the recovery of the pirate horn to escape Brynlaw. Apparently when Saemon Haveron gave me the quest to recover the horn, he never got to leave the Vulgar Monkey tavern. Because of this, he wasn't on his ship after I recover the horn. So I went back to the inn, found him there. Gave him the horn, and then the pirate lord attacked us, IN THE TAVERN, instead of on the ship.

Needless to say, no other triggers happen and once again I'm forced to reload from a point a ways back to redo everything.

And this is a fraction of the bugs I've gotten in the last couple of days. Needless to say, Overhaul Games hasn't done their jobs yet. Hopefully they will patch out these issues.

Overhaul games, you need to patch this game too!
The Asciiman Aug 22 @ 6:41pm
And now my game crashes everytime I open Viconia's inventory. I just left the underdark and now I can hardly proceed. Apparently if I kill her then ressurect her it fixes the problem. We will see.

Good lord this version is screwed up.

Yup, the multiplayer is horrible, the single player mode is more taxing than fun. I need more hands so I can give this joint 4 thumbs down.
