What am I doing wrong with the Deathcare?
Dead bodies are contantly piling up in a city with around 55k population, I have something ridiculous like 50 crematoriums and 30 cemetaries, but no hearses are ever deployed, I have tried decreasing education to create more uneducated workers but that doesn't fix anything, I have decongested the roads, but that also doesn't work, for some reason the hearses are never deployed so dead bodies constantly pile up, I even had to manually destroy and rebuild a few universities because of this.

Sounds like a bug to me. I currently have close to 40k population and like 5 cemetaries and 5 crematoriums. Every now and then I get maybe 1 or 2 people waiting for picup but thats no problem. I just checked my crematoriums and they constantly have 9/9 hearses in use. Weird.

Death comes in waves, i think.
It is a demographic problem. If your city growth with a constant rate, the people will die with a constant rate. But when you expand your city in waves the people will die x years after they moved in, in a similar same wave.

Cemetaries might also be glitching out- That coupled with people dying in waves means the entire city is covered with the dead in the streets.

My city seems to have those issues to, I thought maybe the water is puluted or something but not showing up on twit bird, but checked and double checked polution levels around the pumps and all seem fine, just seems odd, maybe it just a lot of old agers dieing all at one time for some reason instead of random like games says 1'st of each month is kill elder day or something?

As someone else said, they come in waves. Like in real life you get a time when alot of older people are getting very old and will be dying. Then you have a few generation of youngsters and most of them won't die for awhile. Just keep putting up stuff for deathcare and get thru the tough times!

You have a large number of households all on the same life cycle which happens when you zone large amounts of residential at once.

Try using the de-zone tool to demolish a lot of residential at once while leaving all your roads and services and stuff intact, then slowly rezoning it.

Let each bit develop for like a week or two, and then zone a little more and repeat.

I fell into the same trap once I had a lot of money and starting zoning larger. That's how I fixed it for my city.

Intresting, thanks for the tip might be worth creating a few smaller towns and slowly turn them into cities in there own right and gradually move round the map adding a little to each of them at the time

The whole having to fetch dead people thing is a weird feature to have in a city builder game. I know that fetching dead people is a real thing, but a lot of people pass away in hospitals and is usually taken there by either their relatives or the ambulance. Getting a service to pick up the deceased is the exception rather than the rule.

More than that though, out of all the problems that real mayors face it is highly unlikely that dead body removal will become a serious concern that spirals out of control (unless of course a war or epidemic broke out).

The problem is that the hearses never leave the cemeteries or crematoriums, not the mass waves, I'm just unsure why there are no vehicles even trying.

You're citizens age and die just like they would in banished.

OP, trying moving the death facilities or turning them off then back on.

I was having the same issue with garbage trucks and the incinerator and turning it off and on at the actual facility fixed it.

another thing to consider: don't zone residential all at once in big sections. that means their life/death cycles will be synced closer together, causing those huge out of control bursts.

but you also probably have traffic issues, virtually everything in this game comes back to traffic issues, right down to how much money you make at any given moment.

if your people can't get to work, they don't make money, if they don't make money, their work doesn't make money, if tourists can't get in your tourism doesn't make money, etc. this game is almost all about traffic management. it's funny because the simpler your roads, the better the traffic. a single city of just two side by side long roads with a connection at the end, has basically perfect traffic flow.

a quick fix would be to bulldoze homes here and there in some semi random order, so that their life cycles reset and space out to be more managable.

I hate to bump this, but the problem isn't that I don't have enough cemetaries to pick up the dead people, the problem is that my cemetaries and crematoriums only ever display 0/9 hearses in use, I checked all of them, none are working despite the bodies piling up. I tried turning them all off then on but it didn't fix anything, and I will mention once again that there are no traffic issues, I managed to almost completely avoid red zones in traffic through planning my roads.

Ive noticed this myself, and even with grabage. It seems like the incinerators never work.
