Lore
I haven't seen anything about this on the discussions, but there is a really cool potential for lore in this game. Is there already a thread on this or a way to discuss the possibilities?

OP isn't talking about Lore; he's talking about lore. :P

When I say lore, I mean making the story of the Shutdown, the 3 factions, etc actually affect gameplay. Plus it would be more interesting than fighting a series of indiscriminate red triangles.

It sounds like whoever wrote that lore is a fan of Iain M. Banks :P With the utopian society, sentient AI's running literally everything, orbital citadels, planet terraforming, etc. I'd like to see those kinda of technologies from the books some day :)

I feel like writing some fan lore for the shutdown, if you didn't notice the flaws in it while reading then the comments point out pretty much everything. Plus I never came anywhere less than tenth place out of sometimes thousands of people in school writing contests from primary to sixth form, I bet I could chuck out something decent :3

I stumbled across the seemingly defunct AI Core while flying about, but there was nothing to do there. No salvage, no hostile defenses, nothing. So.... there's that.

Well, there are automated cannons throughout the galaxy in Entropy (including wilderness), so there could be a lingering presence of the AI or they'd all be shutdown. I'd love it if there were also elements of Asimov's Foundation series in this game, as we could easily equate the corporate factions to Asimov's Anacreon, Foundation and other "space kingdoms". There would also be a place for the AI Core.
