Player can't run a Cut

I'm on the training where i have to send a player to run a cut. But all i do is to pass the ball and after that jumpshoot? what did i wrong?

i press RB to open the symbols - than i have to press the symbol of the player and move the RS in the direction of the cut but it dont works. When i press the symbol its a pass - and when i move RS he tries to shoot.
