Doesn't run... help?

Alright, so after looking through the forum, and seeing lots of people complaining that the game crashes after intro or using the config tool..... I have to ask a different question. The config program doesn't seem to start. Every time I tell the game to play from within steam, the config tool just crashes, saying 'config mfc failed to start'. If I click on config.exe inside the main folder, the splash screen comes up and then just stays there, the program locked up. Anyone have any ideas at all?

having the same issue, tried booting directly from the .exe and nothing happened, tried loading the config from games files then got splash screen and an error message saying "no directx 8.1 drivers installed" when i know there is and i also know the game uses directx 9.0c. also tried reinstalling.

both the OP and myself have stated that the config tool doesn't even open, so how do you proposed we changed the resolution.

*chuckles* Gotta admit Alun1, I like your style. It's FAR too common for people, on forums of any type, to not actually read the OP and just try to answer whatever question they believe in their mind is being asked. I've honestly never understood that at all.

It's the whole reason I didn't comment on any of the other threads talking about resolutions.... since I'm guessing my issue isn't the same issue, no point in me piggybacking on someone else's issue.

I'll admit, I've not had any comments on the drivers on mine, but then again, I think I've mostly given up on thinking I"ll play this one.

starting to get similar feelings myself, not had any help from devs on it, the drivers thing was the only error message i've had, even after downloading them again and installing them, the game itself just doesn't run.

meh, game didn't cost me anything so nevermind, only got it through a trade.

*chuckles and nods* Yeah, it's actually on my wife's account, was just going to try it through hers, and she got it for REAL cheap, so I'm not worried about it at all at this point. heh.
