I don't know neither this or Blender well, but from what I gather, Curvy is based on sculpting. That's a different process.

most programms have sculpting, it's a must, a sculpt only prgogramm that doesn't look very good is not really needed if you know what i mean

if you do something, then do it good or not at all, not something inbetween

You must be a riddle master lol. Okay think of it this way. Curvy 3d is a tool, a unique tool that lets you sketch something in 2D and have it become 3D. However, anything you make in this program you can make in Blender BUT you have to know Blender's ins and outs to be able to.

Blender learning curve = Big
Curvy 3D learning curve = Small

On the other hand there are features in Blender that are not in Curvy.

So, as stated before, this is a tool. A unique tool. A handy tool. Its not better or worse than anything else, its just another tool.

get it?

yup
still, it's too expensive, this is clearly for artistic people who want to do this for fun or because they want something that they drew to be in 3d, then they should have made it like 40 dollars, this pricetag makes it look like this is a professional programm. ok i get that it kinda is but the people who've got this money don't use this but something else, that's what i meant with if you do something, then do it good or not at all, not something inbetween. or of course make it cheaper.

get it? ;)

To each his own I guess. There is nothing that defines a program as 'professional'. Unless you are strictly going off of the price tag (that would be silly wouldn't it?). And what is the 'something else' that they use? ZBrush ($700)? Autodesk ($1300)? Blender is different from all the others being a free, open source program.

Seems to me there is room for programs such as Curvy with a $99 pricetag.

Yes I do get it. I just do not think YOU do :]

Cheers

Same in this topic - dont think you are a pro because u "know" some programm like zbrush or the holy blender (belive me for beginners blender is a big pain in the butt) this programm here, sure is basic and sure its in a early state - but why the heck this hate. i think the devs of this tool did a great job and if you like it fine support it - if you dont like it - dont f - u - c - k - i - n - g buy the damn thing. and keep it for you - if its a scam okay im on your side - but this programm is just a alternative and a good way for getting familiar with 3D modeling. ...

Dude, 80$ pricetag is far from professional tools of trades.
ZBrush is $700.
Maya is a couple grands.
Same with 3d max.

Curvy is for hobbyist.

i never said its a professional tool. its just an alternative and for total beginners a other way of getting into 3D modeling - if they want to - its total clear that you cant get a bad ♥♥♥ programm for 70 bucks ... but if you look at zbrush or 3dcoat with its 300-700$ for me thats freaking cheap for what those tools can do.

and its not the programm that makes you a professional its what you create with those tools.
WNxPyrZern Nov 13, 2013 @ 12:13pm
Whoopsie, not meaning to reply to you, but the earlier comment.
And I agree with you, it's what you can with the tools.
southpawami Nov 29, 2013 @ 5:50am
I agree with the rabbit trail, it's what you can do with the tools. ( http://www.curvy3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2495 ) < that kind of thing most of the Curvy users can't do... but it can be done.
