Chance for a 64-bit executable?
So I have noticed that as I start getting more and more complicated with my models the memory limit of curvy becomes more and more of an issue as it is a 32-bit application.

Is there any chance that we could see a 64-bit version in the future to allow for greater usage of RAM etc? This is the only 3D app I use that isn't 64-bit but I do love Curvy alot and I want to see it continue to be a part of my pipeline.

You are right, it would be great to get a 64bit version of Curvy working. I've run some initial tests and Curvy 64bit seems to work OK, running at the moment with 10Gb of geometry (I am amazed my GFX card can still cope!)

There might also be some teething issues/bugs that slipped in with the 64bit change... if you fancy being a beta tester of the 64bit executable perhaps you could email me at (support at curvy 3 d dot com) and I'll send you a personal 64bit build to try out!

Awesome.

Email sent - you continue to be a wonderfully communicative developer!

On board also, sending email.

I've emailed you both with the 64bit exe, do let me know if it does not arrive.

Yup I got it. It is pretty amazing !! I tried so hard to get it to choke up and crash and it was very resilient... it never did.

Only after like 30 minutes of importing model after model next to each other in a huge group and screwing with them as AMeshes, randomly exploding and Voxel merging all... did I finally get it to give me an out of memory error and refuse to merge.

However unlike with the 32 bit version, that did not crash the app. I was able to just go back to sculpting or save my file or whatever.

So it is a huge improvement. I haven't noticed any differences or issues yet, everything is working as expected (better actually of course). I'll keep playing around with it and I'll email you if I run into any bugs or what-not... but it seems like this might be close to being ready to push out on Steam even?

Sounds good. I have pushed this to Steam now, if you have a 64bit system Curvy should now automatically start in 64bit mode once the update downloads.

[You can revert to the 32bit version by running "Curvy.exe" from the install folder if you need to]

Thank you, Aartform Games. Taskmanager shows Curvy64.exe without a star... how awesome is that!

Very cool ! I'll spread the news in my admittedly small circle. ^_^
Simon, would you mind if I grabbed a 64-bit version to try out?
Been trying to get back into your forum but mailer isn't resending my login data.

I'm one of that small circle, ha ha
nevermind, Simon...Dragler just pointed me to Steam's Common Folder to show me you've just sent us all the 64 executable

Hi, glad you found it. You will automatically be using the 64bit version after the last update (if your PC is 64bit). If you want to check you can use Task Manager's Process view and it will tell you the running program is "Curvy64.exe", compared to the 32bit "Curvy.exe"
