SPEED RUN DILEMMA (wizel #1 time confusion)
So I have been playing this game since release non stop and have had so much fun trying to retain my #1 place on the fastest time leaderboard, this created some fun with another player named Tragic Bronson and we have enjoyed this challenge.

But today I have come on to see a new player from out of nowhere who has not been in the top 20 the whole time I have played just absolutely decimate my 17 minute time by getting a 13 minute time. Now the reason I am confused is because my 17 minute run was close to flawless, and at best I think 1 minute MAX could be shaved off using the current strategies.

So I am led to believe that this new #1 player has either found a skip of some kind or is using other means, I know this may make me seem like a sore loser but I am making this post because I love this game so much and dont want the competitive side to end. Right now I have no motivation to run this game because even if I did my current near perfect route with 100% precision I genuinely believe I could still only achieve a 16 minute time.

I dont want to bad mouth this new #1 "wizel" but something does not seem right, his profile is set to private and he does not have any sort of picture on his account NEVERMIND the fact he has not shown up on the leaderboards at all which suggests to me that he has not been practicing and increasing in skill like the rest of us (me and Tragic Bronson) have gotten down from 21 minutes to 17 minutes through sheer practice and this could be seen live on the leaderboards. I dont understand how he has popped up from nowhere with such a insane time.

I urge this new #1 "wizel" to come forward and share this secret so we can hopefully keep the speed run community (the small few of us) alive.

TL;DR some guy has just got a speedrun time I dont think is achievable without skips or by other means.

he could have played the sh*t out of this game prior its release on steam though. also some moves can deal a ton of damage on bosses shaving off a significant amount of time. These could be some of the reasons he got the record he detains but not speedrunning it myself mine are just assumptions. :P

also look at wizel's horde mode record... he's a beast...

I really do hope he is just a beast, because it will give me motivation to try that much harder, I would just like a response from him to say that its legit. You must understand my confusion though, he has not been anywhere on the leader boards and then BAM just appears top of Horde and fastest time without any build up period.

It doesn't sound legit. 13 Minutes is crazy without some sort of sequence breaking exploit.
Nick Dec 11, 2013 @ 1:44am
Thats exactly what I thought, its insane. It must be a sequence break, but that doesnt explain his sudden jump to top of horde mode at almost exactly the same time. I just find it odd.

Yo, I'm also trying to speedrun this game (my best was #4 on the leaderboard still improving though !!) and when I saw the new #1 today I was like "there must be a major skip somewhere" so I just spent 1 hour hitting every block, getting hit by everything in order to glitch through something, and while I did find a few shortcuts I didn't know in the process, I found nothing even remotely close to a freaking 5+ minutes skip.
So I'm kind of suspicious too , and you're also right about the Horde time. There's also no way to contact the guy, who has his profile set to private. This is kind of annoying really

It is very annoying, I guess the community could ignore his time and we could still compete for second place until we know if its legit. but like I have said before my run done PERFECT with quickest boss kills and none stop movement would save like 1 minute, this massive chunk of time is ridiculous.

The leaderboards have already been hacked a couple times (horde mode only so far) so I'm thinking they're both fakes. (Honestly I'm blown away by the 3+ minute times--really didn't expect that!) I'll give it a little time to see if he replies here before deleting his entries.
Nick Dec 11, 2013 @ 1:55pm
Oh really, well could this be a hacked time them? Im glad you agree that the 3+ minutes is just too much of a steep drop.... 17 minutes for this game is still pretty quick. Well I hope this gets sorted out and thanks everyone for replying to try sort this out.

Yeah 13 minutes sounds fishy to me, but we'll give it a little time, I'd hate to delete it if it turned out there was some incredible trick I was unaware of. :)

Yeh it would be a shame, but I think the whole community agrees both the horde and fastest time leaderboards have pretty much unbeatable times (horde could be beaten i guess but would just be a challenge)... I just hope he comes forward :)

I'll just add that I fully agree with everything Aphex has said. Unless there is a major glitch/skip that none of us are aware of (which I doubt), the current top time at around 13m seems rather unreasonable.

I'm guessing he hasn't stepped forward or anything yet. I kind of hope that he did it legit, because I want to see that!

No I invited him as a friend yesterday and he still hasnt accepted even though he was online 3 hours ago. I would also like to see it tbh, but probably wont happen.

Online times are strange if you're not their friend. It'll saya time that is, in reality, not correct at all.

Leaderboards are updated once again--though dang, you guys got it down under 17 minutes, having a target like that up there can't be all bad. :)
