TL;DR: If you enjoy reaction based dodging I recommend Race the Sun.
If not weigh if the pros/cons are worth it for you.
note: My review is based off version 1.44 of the game
+ Replay value: The main level for Race the Sun resets every 24hr to a new pseudo-random level.
+ Music: The music will fit the mood as you progresss further through the levels and will change depending on how well you are doing.
+ SFX: All the sounds fit well with the gameplay (nothing much else to say, just really good sfx).
+ Progression: Unlockable attachments and upgrades are gained by completing tasks. The tasks come at a fair pace and you can unlock everything if if you're not amazing at the game.
+ Gameplay: If you like dodging obstacles, improving upon your highscores, or runner-likes you'll enjoy it. If not the game may not be for you. If you do enjoy that and tight gameplay, levels, and near death this is for you.
+ Community / Additional content: Hey, Theres a level editor with the steam workshop, people who really enjoy the game or are just creative have made some really interesting stuff.
+ Gameplay Stats: How much you've traveled, how much you've flown, sadly no count on how many times I've went face first into a wall at Mach 5.
- Gray almost everything : A lot of people will probly be turned off by the grayscale level pieces. It makes it really hard to tell where your going sometimes. (I've failed many a level early because I couldnt tell if that was a wall or the way forw-CRASH- ). +Level grayness aside the menus are easy to navigate and are very clean and wellmade.
- Additional settings easy to miss: Scroll down in the menus theres more settings and keybinds.
- Player Control and How the game starts: It takes some time before you will get use to how the player moves, this isn't helped by the fact that on your first few runs you're thrown in the fray without knowledge and will most likely die in a few seconds.(expect to die a few times before getting the hang of it)
Other Thoughts +/-
+/- Cost: I dislike mentioning this but at my current hrs played it feels worth mentioning. The cost as of review ($10) may be too high for some people to buy it but even at $10 I'm very happy with it and will be getting it for a gift again.
