Breaking Vox! (Read if you're having crashes)
Here is my attempt to cause the game to crash, if you want to play versus test find the greatest step (6 as of posting this) that doesn't cause major malfunction, and enjoy! If you want to help test, then smack down from the begining. See if you succeed where I fail, or fail where I succeed!
(These are all done using the 64bit version of Vox.)

******(Do nothing that is not listed in the steps, that includes enabling full-screen, or turning up the in-game sound volume.)******

(Make sure your video card drivers are up-to-date)

Step 1 (Crash):
Run the game after the update, create a new character and start the tutorial.

Step 2 (Work):
Delete/Re-install the game, use the default character and start the tutorial.

Step 3 (Crash):
Create a custom character, start the tutorial.

Step 4 (Crash):
Turn all settings off/down, create a custom character, start the tutorial

Step 5 (Crash):
Create a custom character with batman head, name it Testy 2, click create

Step 6 (Work):
Create a custom character with batman head, name it Test2, enter tutorial.

Step 7 (Work):
Enable Day/Night cycle, follow Step 6

Step 8 (Work):
Raise load distance to 200, and enable fullscreen. Follow Step 7

I have discovered the issue!

It's the same one as before, if you make a character that is NOT the same dimensions as the default character (Hero) the game will NOT let you in. As long as you are the SAME HEIGHT as the default character (Hero) the custom character will get a green light, and the game will load.

Hope that helps!

PS: I wrote this as I tested.

Current noted bugs:
1: Can not create a custom character unless its dimensions (height specifically) are the same as the default character (Level 15 Hero)

2: If you name your custom character with a space, it will cause an instant crash when you click "create"

3: the game will crash upon exit once you're in to the actual play area.

After we hear from a big whig on the current stuff, I will continue my testing to see just how deep we can get in. Just how much havok we can cause! And, for those of us who want another kind of fun, I'll keep the list updated as to the best point of entry to just "play".

And, keep up the great work you devs you! I looooove bug hunts, almost as much as playing. :D

When you say "the same dimensions" are refering to the dimensions of the creation box or the dimensions of the physical model?

I've noticed it is height specific. I have to admit I do not know the difference from the box versus model.

It also seems to be just the head, since all the bodies are the same height. I didn't make any custom custom characters (IE edit and create a head) I used default ones. Specifcally the crying bald head, and batman, and hero.

Batman and hero are both "taller" than the cryer. I don't know if that is the creation box, or the physical model. But I would bet on the latter, since on the selection screen you can see that the hero is much taller than the crying head.

I forgot to mention that a full uninstall and reinstall for this patch is probably necessary to fix any crashes or errors.

Found that out at step two :P Thank you for the heads up though, it's nice to know it's official!

I can confirm these and yes I did full reinstall (remove local game data, then install again using Steam)

Once you can create a character that can enter a world without crashing though that's only the start of your problems because you can only play for about 3 minutes before the game crashes anyway. I really want to run the game through a debugger but I don't think I'm allowed to do that with the steam version and the desura version is still at 0.41. That older version crashes for me to but not as frequently and I don't know how useful testing it would be.

You may did not *full* reinstall.
Removing local game data wont delete all game data.

Uninstall the game and delete the game folder.
Reinstall, turn on the compatibility mode for Vox.exe and run Vox.exe as an administrator.

Even if you have a 64bit System, use the normal Vox.exe.
I´ve noticed this one runs better.
