Early Access Review
While still in development, Rust already has many things that can hook you up.
It's one of those survival games that early access is full of, but this one is good.
This is one of games that was inspiration for many of those games.
Rust ( now called Rust Legacy) was the first version i took my hands on. It had zombies, which have since been scrapped.
It had pretty good building system, and it was fun to build huge house or fortress with your friend, while still defending it, so that other players wouldn't raid it.
Raiding, one big part of the game. What is yours, is mine. After airdrop, you might have been lucky, and gotten recipe for C4 crafting. Then you would've crafted few explosives from hardly earned materials. Then, waited for a while. Gathered your group, and silently found best entrance to enemy's fortress. You raided their home, stole all you needed, and ran. Next day, this might happen to you too.
Rust Legacy, the old version of the game, is still available to play, if you so desire. It's basic survival at it's finest;
Spawn in a forest, start chopping trees, build your first shed. Start gathering materials to build bigger home.
After a while, you'll start getting metal materials, which is more durable, and thus harder to raid by others.
You should have crew, and each member should have a weapon. For first, melee weapons will do. But later on, you'll find weapons, or recipes to craft them. Once you'r crew has those weapons, you can start raiding, or create huge castle.
But that's pretty much what legacy is all about, it just ends. After a while, there is nothing more to do, and if you don't want to start from beginning, or keep raiding, it's all you've got.
Developers saw this, and started building Rust from the very beginning,
This is now called Rust Experimental. While it still lacks some features that Legacy has, it's going to be greater, bigger, more awesome in every way.
Experimental has better graphics, if you care about those. It has randomly generated map, and improved crafting.
Some day, it will be better than at the moment, but it is still fun. For now, if your'e looking for more complete version, I would play Legacy. Every update to Experimental adds features, and soon it will be the better version. And boy it will be good. This is one of the gems of early access.
