[Live] Update 09 May 2014: Animation stutter fix, framerate improvements.
Just gone live on all three platforms!

  • Fixes a crash due to the creatures walking off the map.
  • Fixes a collision crash.
  • Fixes a slowdown caused by them running out of food and flooding the path finder looking for more.
  • Fixes the flickering animation problems. Yay!

There's a bug in the speed code. Repo: Press + (plus) a couple times, then hold the - (minus) key....Crash.

That code is for testing only. It's not part of the game.

By pressing "-" you start going back in time and the chickens un-birth themselves. As you can imagine that causes the universe to implode and the game to crash.

there's some oddity about the '/' key, causes the screen to go black and reset, icons appear squished, camera field of view angle appears to change a little, no way to return to original with restarting. This isn't new to this patch however, it's been there for a while.

Awesome!!

Colonists still have glitchy animation, new colonists ship spawned in the rock. Didn't crash though.

My game still is 5 fps. XD

I realy love this game but I cannot play it. My game crashes after about 20 min every time. F9 also crashes the game. I know it is still in development and hope it improves with time.

lol needs a auto save feature and a working load option, its fun game but gets old every time you stop playing or it crashes you cant reload you game:( Would at least be playable if we can get the F9 working but also if it auto saved you would never lose to much with the random crashes.

And flickering animation problems still there

Yeah the F9 bug is already fixed and in testing. Still struggling to find a reason for the crashing. Not seen/replicated it on any of our test machines or OSes yet. :(

I think this patch removed the sound effect from the water barrels... They worked in the original 0.42 release. But now tapping the water barrels is silent :(

Same here.

sound is the least of the problems. It would be good if the game didnt die after 5 minutes :P

Simon could use a proper QA person to assist him, whom could also do the PR. Answering everything in the forums, youtube and email takes a lot of valuable time from Simon. Time not used on development :) Lots of potential in the game, but usually versions are broken here and there. Regression and weird behavior. But also a lot of good and advancement.

i beleve crazyewok the sound of taping on the barrels are the least of my wories and i don't care if it is gone

Water barrel still works for us. Make sure you are zoomed in, the sound is 3d.

I actually have a very experienced QA person helping out! One of the points of 0.42 would be that it removes all unplanned code regressions going forward.

Sadly there are a hundred trillion combinations of hardware, software and OS, that might be causing this crash so we can't always track things down. (Crashing is happening to only a few dozen people out of 40k, so we are having to piece together the issue carefully and that takes time).
