Any chance of a script revision?
Not holding my breath, but I just made it to the 3rd village and decided to take a break in part because the punctuation is bothering me. I understand small / indie teams only have such and such budget and can't always outsource such services--it's an unfortunate reality.

Thankfully it's not nearly as bad as PS3/Vita SRPG Rainbow Moon, but it still irks me . . . especially the constant misuse of commas. I couldn't find another thread on the topic, so I'm guessing I'm pretty much alone, but wondered if something like this might be possible in a future update. (Or, possibly but probably not, if such a thing could be something the community could mod).

Every time I see an error, the voice instantly turns into "Jeff Gerstman reading voice"--completely dry, quick, without inflection or emphasis. Comma misuse inparticular completely throws off the pace. There is certainly creative license and room for unique style, but there are extremes when it comes to punctuation: too much of any one thing, unless we're talking about exclusive use of simple statements (periods, periods, periods), can really take otherwise good writing down a level or two.

The writing of the story, ironically, is the last thing on the list of "fix me".

The game's core mechanics are broken.

not broken just hates new players, easy enough once you have ♥♥♥♥in memorized where ♥♥♥♥ is and dont break things anymore at GETTING ♥♥♥♥ING THROW BACK A WHOLE ♥♥♥♥IN ROOM because gay ♥♥♥ knock back and lack of recovery move from knockback.

You should really calm down on the raging.

That one boss is only a bit annoying, and is quite easy if you fight it right.

I had an all STR build, and I wasn't hitting nearly as hard as an all AGI build. Once I switched, I was hitting way harder.

Secondly, using the lightening grab magic helps on that boss a ton, as it is essentially a reverse stun, and lines you up for an attack.

If something seems too hard, or isn't working, it's not the game, it's you. Just change up your approach.

Game Mechanics broken? More like operator error.

Funny stuff. The only place you have to worry about being stunned/knocked back is in Ziggurat and Mr big at the end. Have you tried using spells or another method? Anything besides just charging in and spamming your favorite combo? Are you not using skill cancels in fights often?

I guess you could grab the demon key and get the accessory guy that sells the Necromancers Lexicon and wear it for the Demon Widow part if you are that bad at fighting it. You won't have to worry about being stunned anymore.

I'm happy with the game mechanics. If it were my project, I'd strip the whole fade-to-black thing going on at the edge of every room, but that's my only major design gripe so far.

The script was "game-breaking" for me in Rainbow Moon. It's not that bad here, but I'd love to see a more professional edit fix the punctuation style--which in part is to say the dialogue itself is fine.

Again . . . not holding my breath. Just hoping against hope :)

This went off topic fast.

Agree with OP though, bad grammar does make a game feel very "amateurish" sometimes.

If punctation ruins tacky game dialog for you, the problem is unreasonable expectations, not the game.
Rohsiph Feb 12 @ 1:44am
It's unreasonable to expect a certain level of quality from a product I paid for?

My opinion is expectations of game writing are far, far, far below what they really ought to be in general, hence few people ever taking editorial errors in game scripts to task.

I would say script problems very well ought to sit below fixing gameplay bugs, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect high-school level grammar profieciency (based on 90s standards, granted, but that could get into a whole different topic).

I never noticed there were that many punctuation errors, but english isn't my native language, so...

As for reporting such errors, it's always a good feedback, especially if it made the OP quit playing the game.

Now, I could talk about the small size of the dev team, and say that they probably didn't focus on that aspect of the game, but it's more an explanation than an excuse.

Let's see if such a script revision is made in the future. It can't hurt the game, can it? =)

Precisely, Myhr2 :)

That's all I mean to suggest . . . it couldn't hurt. Fix more important problems first, but hopefully a script revision gets on the list for a future update too.

Thanks for the feedback
The devs will do what they can.
