I tried starting the game and got a runtime error. I tried the solutions in previous discussions and nothing is working. Need help so I dont end up wasting my money.

First things first - what operating system are you using? What are your computer specs?
thenuclearwalrus Jun 27, 2014 @ 10:57pm
Windows 7. 6 gb RAM ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870. The error I get says "Runtime Error! Program C:\Program Files (x86)\S... The application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the Application's support team for more information" I tried doing the cmd prompt method and that did not work

Does the runtime error have any additional information?

Does the game create a log.txt; if so, what is in it? What files are present in %APPDATA%\RenPy\LongLiveTheQueen\ ? Have you tried to run any other Ren'Py games on this computer? What resolution is your monitor set to?

The log.txt has "Fri Jun 27 22:59:28 2014
Windows-post2008Server-6.1.7601-SP1
Ren'Py 6.12.2.1531

Exception: 'module' object has no attribute 'uname'

Windowed mode.

Also the LongLiveTheQueen.ext txt file has "Traceback (most recent call last):

Hm. That looks like it may be corrupt game files; try reverifying the cache?
thenuclearwalrus Jun 28, 2014 @ 2:03am
Which Cache? Sorry I dont know what you are referring to. Oh also, I did have one other Renpy game before, I had Magical Diary, it ran without any issues. My screen resolution is 1600x900

In the Steam settings for the game, there should be an option to verify the integrity of the game files.

Alright I verified and it said 64 files were missing and they got reaquired, I tried starting the game and it still did not work.

I had the same problem (Runtime error). This is how I solved it:

make a new file in the game folder and name it "safemode.bat". Inside the file write:
set RENPY_RENDERER=sw
set RENPY_DISABLE_FULLSCREEN=1
set RENPY_DISABLE_SOUND=pss,mix
LongLiveTheQueen.exe

The game should run when you double click on the new file.
It is similar to the cmd-solution, but it is easier for people who are uncomfortable with typing in a console window ;)

That fixed the issue for me, many thanks to you.

Thanks again, I was able to take out the disable sound part and it still works, I guess the game does not like being in fullscreen for me.
I tried all the above listed fixes, including linkphil's, and am still having the same issue. Is there anything else to try or an update to fix this problem, yet?

Can you post your computer details and log files?
Computer Details: ASUS Notebook G73Jh series, Intel Core i7 CPU 6.0GB RAM 64 bit OS Windows 7 Home Premium (sorry I didn't post that before - just seemed like others had the same issue regardless of computer)
