Off to a VERY good start!
Just played my first match (with lassidar mid), and I'm liking this so far. It's closer to LOL than dota (which I also like). Still a long way to go but I'm enjoying this so far. Only thing I dont' like is keys to open chests. That's not really needed to make money if you make your skins enticing enough. Working for dota doesn't mean it will work here since this will likely have a much smalle rplayer base.

Other than that, great game so far, keep it up!!

Also, what's the NDA on this? Can we post videos?

There is nothing in the chests you can't get for free through crafting or other loot drops. Paying for a key is just a potential shortcut to good stuff. A time saver.

No NDA. Post whatever you like, we just ask that people mention that its still early into Early Access and recognize there are many features and polish yet to come.

Thanks for the support!
Hi Zorlac.

Skins can be crafted, so the chest keys are one of the very few things that are buyable only (along with Hero Kit Slots and Founder Skin Bundle.)

No NDA. Post pics, stream, youtube away!

Do you guys have any preference on youtube monetization? As in users putting ads on their videos and making money from the ads. My account is monetized but they generally ask for proof of your permission to moentize things, so if you guys say it's fine I will be linking back to this thread and any other information you can give me when they ask.

Also thanks for the fast responses, that's always a plus. Can't wait till you guys have in achievements and cards!

I usually just say to note that its in Early Access and you aren't allowed direct revenue (indirect revenue is fine). However, since you need more:

We normally allow youtubers/bloggers to publish gameplay footage / commentary videos/screenshots of "Sins of a Solar Empire" or "Sins of a Dark Age" (hereinafter the Works") under the following simple conditions:

1. The Works are verbally or textually marked "unofficial"
2. You note verbally or in text that imagery, sounds and logos are the copyright of Ironclad Games Corporation.
3. You don't collect Direct Revenue** from the Works.
4. If you collect Indirect Revenue from the Works you must also feature other gameplay / commentary videos, similar to the Works, from a range of games by other studios. (i.e you aren't just collecting money based on our game alone).
5. If you feature Open Beta / Early Access content - you must state clearly that featured game is in Beta / Early Access.
6. And of course as long as you aren't featuring any Closed Beta content, or any content that would breach a non disclosure agreement (NDA) you may have with us. (i.e. when you enter a Closed Beta - you have to agree to an NDA)

**Direct revenue means that a person must pay directly in order to specifically access the videos featuring the Works, whether the videos are live stream, recorded or downloaded.

If you collect revenue from your youtube channel through advertising or subscriptions - this is OK, this would be considered Indirect Revenue.

We reserve to right to revoke these permissions on immediate notice.

Yeah, I have a lot of monetized videos on my channel (1200 videos), so this wouldn't be my only game monetized, and I don't have a subscription based channel for making money. Only monetized off the ads, so it sounds good there.

My first game was horrible. Played the Rage character with two daggers and got harrassed by ranged heroes all game. Every time I would do an engage on an enemy with cripple and active slow from an item (basic attacks) they would quite literally just walk away after two seconds, at which point I could either get kited back to their tower or chased back to mine.

I'ma keep trying out other champions but so far most of the melee heroes are nigh useless at chasing down enemies without a dedicated disable in their skillset. Before you have chance to finish the auto-attack animation they are out of range requiring more chase to catch up to them again.

Sounds like you were playing Drengar. He is one of the harder heroes to use for new players and does require some patience and creativity in how you approach things. Cripple glyph lasts longer than 2 seconds and usually does help but if they have a haste glyph or boots and you don't then it won't work as well. His main advantage is not requiring mana so you can freely spam his abilities to last hit when farming. His Q has a bit of range on it so you can use that and his jump to time last hits to stay in lane vs. ranged heroes. It takes a while to get a handle on judging when to engage and when not to but he is really fun to play once you get the hang of it.

Haven't been able to play yet as the matchmaker doesn't find me any matches but looks very promising. The art style is very appealing to me. Any tips for support/tank player?

Hey there, another game industry person here. Been playing your game for a bit, very fun - I love the quest system integrated into the game. :) Glad I picked it up on the Summer Sale.

Agreed the quests are quite entertaining. Was amusing to see the enemy team completly wipe on the Dragon while we cleaned them up afterwards.

It's nice to see so many players all having a positive attitude to the SOADA even if it is an early access title.
There will be many more updates to come until the release so I hope I can make some good memories and videos with all of you!

First of all, sorry you had to wait so long; hopefully as population takes off we can better cater to your absolutely justified needs. The ongoing Summer Sale is doing wonders for the queue so far though ^^

I also absolutely love the art style, because this game needed a serious break from the blasted cartoon-palooza roster of heroes in every other game within the genre.

As for advice on tank users, there is a great Steam Guide by Charles Foster Ofdensen available for Beroth players, and the wiki over at has some great insights on player progression and item variety.

However, my two cents are to "scout ahead" for your carries when escorting them through Realm Quests, because of the lack of ward efficiency causing permanent "blind spots" throughout many parts of the map. It seems like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised at how many players will just walk through the jungle solo expecting some sort of all-encompassing ward coverage reminiscent of dissimilar games like DOTA 2 and League, and end up getting ganked for their trouble. Also, try to do the quests that involve enemy-side wandering (Path to Ascension, Divine Lost Army etc.) as a tank, because you want your carries to farm lanes and trade blows with heroes for as long as possible, not risk taking their lower health pools to the more treacherous parts of the map.

And finally, work that Portal glyph; your team will need you everywhere ;D
