Teamwork And Voice Chat
This game 100% needs a voice chat. Leuges reason for not having voice chat isbecause they don't wan't trolls and mic spammers. Which is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason. If this game had voice it would attract more people. VOIP and teamwork are go more than hand and hand. TYping takes too long in a team fight and who the hell likes to stop and type for health! NOBODY. I know its alot to ask for but maybe when the important things are all said and done we could get a VOIP chat?

I agree. Voice chat is quite useful, and if someone is using it to abuse his teammates they can just mute him and problem solved. HoN has a built-in voice chat and it really helps that you don't have to take your time to type things in, makes ganking much faster and easier.

Yeah, plus if you get newbies in team (which you often do get in this game) it would be just much easier to explain the game to them via voice chat. Because you could play and explain at the same time, you wouldn't need to stay back (which makes you lose farm and maybe even exp) and write for 1-3 minutes to explain everything they need to know.

There should be an option to turn it off though. I hate games with voice chats, the voice chat in Dota2 was actually one of the reasons I stopped playing it.

It's not a bad idea at all, but you should have the option like in Starcraft 2 where you can disable the voice chat by unmarking it.

My reason against integrated voice chat is because I wouldn't want additional latency from the game's servers. I don't know if the voice chat would be run off the same servers, but maybe it could bogit down? The only people I generally voice chat with are the ones I know well, and I have them all on skype, so it is easy. There are many options like Teamspeak, Ventrillo, Mumble, Skype, Roger Wilco, Razer comms, etc, so I 'd rather see the time focused on something else.

If they do decide to add it, I hope it is in a non-interfering fasion, and down the road quite aways.

While it would be cool, it should definitely be optional

You could use skype and ts3 and ext. But are you going to invite me to your current ts3,skype, ect ect to play???

Yes VOIP is big and needed, Tug just mentioned that you can run VOIP via Steam friends list so we can try friending up and running voice that way as well...

I also support a voice chat feature in its full capacity; as with typed flaming, abusive mic spammers can simply be reported and Viced. I've always found it better when devs include a feature that can be turned off, as opposed to leaving out features their players subsequently long for.

I'm also not sure how much of an effect voice comms will have on in-game latency; DOTA 2 supports it fully, and I only get around 30 ping from US West servers consistently

I don't support this idea at all, the issue being there will be trolls. Your arguement will be "you can mute/block them"...my argument will be "Why should I have to? Taking a couple of seconds to mute/block anyone could cause me a death and if I do it in base then I either have to listen to them until i have time to get to the base or I have to make a special trip just to block them or mute them thus giving me a disadvantage on farming".....

All moba players know the entire game can turn in a split second. Use a 3rd party voice chat with your buddies like every other moba player. This idea would be "useful" maybe 1 out of 20 games in random queues because alot of regular match solo players are not interested in communication at all and then you will have language barriers also, don't think for one second just because European or south american or asian players have their own server that they wont come to the US server and speak other languages that they are more comfortable with and then what? You mute them and nothing is accomplished.

There are just so many reasons you can list against having this and the only reason to have this is for convenience purposes as "communication" is not a proper purpose since 3rd party chat programs will work a ton better then any integrated Voip anyways.

So the answer is add an option: Voice Chat Enable/Disable.

Hear, hear. Again, better to include a feature many players will not personally use, than to prohibit a feature in its entirety based on the reservations of a few.
Tug Jun 14 @ 10:16pm
To play devils advocate, if many players will not personally use the feature, then is it worth the production time when there are so many other options already available? Including a Steam based voip

not only that but no offense to the devs.....I have NEVER seen an in-game VoiP that had better sound quality or functions then any of the common Voip (Teamspeak, vent, mumble and raidcall ect.)
